Kiyotaka POV

More than two years ago, I would have deemed this war as unnecessary — A war that was easily avoidable with my current abilities.

Even before I had my current strength, during that time when I first visited the Eastern Empire, just like what Yuuki Kagurazaka is currently doing, I could destroy it from within - like cancer to the human body.

In the near future, one might be wondering, 'why did you choose to take this path?'

I won't answer that question right now. Even if answered, it would probably only leave people with more questions. However, that doesn't matter to me.

'Don't disappoint me.'

I had deliberately let everything unfold until now without much interference. Whether it was Rimuru, Rudra or Yuuki, they all have their parts to play.

And if any of them fail to meet the expectations...

I will deal the killing blow.

3rd POV

"The forces at the Western front are being forced back!"

"---Have fallen to the demons!"

"---Needs backup!"

The Eastern Empire was in a state of chaos. Even though they had been preparing their forces for many years, the unexpected invasion had caught them totally off guard.

Furthermore, demons, usually while strong, had a bloodthirsty recklessness that would slaughter anything at sight as well as a tendency to fight individually. However, right now, those very same demons were fighting with actual strategies and planning.

They were using formations, ambushes, hit and run as well as focusing on defenses. However, what was much more terrifying was that they were multiplying. For every enemy they killed, a demon would take over the fallen body. This meant that while their forces were getting reduced, the demons increased their numbers.

"This is insane." Velgrynd clenched her fist tightly, hearing the reports. "Kiyotaka... to think he would use such an underhanded strategy."

'In this current situation...' Rudra thought as he placed a hand under his chin. 'Sending several of the Imperial Guardians would reduce the casualties. I could use Armageddon, however, fighting numbers against numbers would be a gamble, especially if the demons are able to overcome the angels. Furthermore, Kiyotaka's current hand is still unknown. Even if we do decide to use the Imperial Guardians, what if Kiyotaka appears?'

Even though he was confident in the strength of his Imperial Guardians, every one of them had lost to Kiyotaka Tempest. While those had been single battles, Kiyotaka's current strength right now is a total unknown.

"Emperor!" A messenger burst into the room in a hurry.

"What is it?" Velgrynd turned to look at the newest person in the room. If it had been any other day, the latter would have been punished for barging in the throne room unannounced, but seeing as he was in a hurry, something major seemed to have happened.

"C-Charybdis has appeared in the West of the Empire! Along with a Dragon Lord in the North!" The messenger hurriedly said.

"What?!" Even Velgrynd was caught off guard. If it was just a Charybdis, they could still handle it handly. However, a Dragon Lord has appeared on another side, which meant that they couldn't just send a single person to handle.

'There is no other choice then.'

"Velgrynd. You will go to assist the battlefields. Bring the other Imperial Guards as well."
