19| I'm Thankful

Genesis

"Okay." I mumbled , looking around.

I had just got done cleaning up around my apartment . Considering it was the last week of November and I had finally finished unpacking and getting everything settled & how I wanted it , I decided to just have thanksgiving dinner at my place .

Inviting everyone I'm close to and just showing my appreciation of having them in my life . My main concern was how this turkey and dressing was going to turn out . I used to watch my mom make it all the time . Gina had mastered it almost like mom did but it was kinda of difficult for me .

I heard my doorbell so I started walking to my door , looking through the peephole . I opened the door for King and Kassidy to come in. They came in quickly , since it was snowing outside .

"Gene!" Kassidy cheered as she jumped on me . I picked her up , kissing her cheek repeatedly .

"Kass!" I mocked her tone. I put her down, helping her out her coat as King already hung his up.

"I came early to see if you needed some help. I brought what you told me too." He said , putting the bag on the counter . I nodded , going to it , unbagging a pumpkin pie and sweet potato pie.

"Thanks King. Um at the moment , I don't need any help. The food is still cooking right now." I said . He nodded , looking around .

"You set it up nice . Looks good."

"Thank you. I was up all night doing it." I said , rubbing my hands through my hair . He wrapped his arm around my shoulder .

"Don't be overworking yourself lil mama."

I side eyed him and smirked at his remark . I turned back towards Kassidy. "Not too close to the candles Kas." I said . She got down from the chair .

"I'm bored." She said .

"Wanna watch tv until everyone gets here?" I asked her , she nodded . She plopped down on the couch as I turned on the tv , turning to K.C Undercover . She became attentive to it so I went back to the kitchen , getting ready to put these pies into a different platter.

"So who all suppose to be coming?" King asked , climbing into the barstool . I took out two cake display holders . I took the plastic tops off the pies , placing them into the holders. I looked up at him, tucking my lips .

"Mel , Mel's bringing Tyrone surprisingly , Victoria , Mason , Kevin , Gloria , the twins and the other twins , Kia , her boyfriend Ronnie , my brother's old girlfriend India and..Michael." I mumbled Michael at the end , knowing they still weren't on good terms . He scoffed .

"I won't be staying."

"King." I said looking up. He looked at me and clenched his jaw. "Please y'all just get along. It's one night to be all together."

He stared at me before sucking his teeth . "Okay." He mumbled. "If he say some slick shit though, I'm leaving to keep from any altercations". King stated . I nodded as he went over , sitting beside Kassidy.
