48 | Home Is Where the Heart Is

Since Genesis's overdosing and 3 day coma , she's been recovering well. I made sure there I was here with her .

I wasn't leaving any more, gone most of the day . When I did pray , it was at home or I would take all of them with me. Everyone from New York has been visiting occasionally for both Genesis and Keenan . Raheem nearly beat Genesis ass with an actual belt for overdoing those pills but I had to calm him with that because he was becoming out of hand .

Of course they were disappointed but they supported her again as always . We never doubted their support .

So since Genesis recovery went good , we were now waiting for Keenan's time . At the moment , we were at the cancer center in the waiting room , somewhere we had became accustomed to .

I leaned my head against my hand , taking a deep breath . My eyes were becoming droopy as we were both were tired from being here for hours of his treatments. Genesis was knocked out beside me.

I looked down to see her laying her head on my arm , with her mouths gapped, I shook my head with a slight smile before looking forward , leaning my head back against the wall.

Just as it seemed I was starting to doze off , the doors open . I kept my eyes closed , thinking it was maybe Alanna or James . They were two people we had met and sorta built a friendship with here considering we were facing the same tragedy .

"Thomas?" I furrowed my eyebrows , opening my eyes slowly . I saw an oncologist .

"Yeah?" I asked .

"Can you all come to my office?" She asked , making me nervous. I nodded as I sat up , nudging Gene.

She scrunched up her face before opening her eyes . "What?" She asked groggily .

"She wanted to talk to us about something in her office." Genesis opened her eyes completely , looking from me to the doctor.

"Oh . Oh okay." She mumbled. I stood up and  held Genesis's hand as she stood up .

We followed the doctor as she walked in front of us through the hallway . She drifted into her office , leaving the door open and allowing us to come in . She sat behind the desk as we took the seats in front of her .

I took a deep breath , pushing negative thinking to my mind. I clasped my hands together , resting them in my lap . Genesis pulled at one of her curls , biting her bottom lip nervously .

"Well I know you both are aware that this was suppose to be little mister Keenan's last session of chemotherapy .." She started . We both nodded . "And thankfully it is.  We didn't find anymore trace of the cancer. I'm so happy for you guys." She said making me just stare at her .

She started talking about some other things but honestly all I saw were her lips moving because I was tuning her out . My excitement and happiness overpowered every other sense. I couldn't feel , move ,touch , or hear at the moment . All I could do was feel my inner happiness overflow .
