'So what kind of stuff do you want to make?' Clive asked as he pulled down several cook books from the shelf in the kitchen. 'Do you want general sort of recipes and menus?'
'Yeah,' Ecie nodded flicking through some pages of the cook books. 'We want something easy to make on a budget. We don't really have a lot of money for groceries.'
'So you managed to sort that out?' Clive chuckled. 'You must feel like adults now.'
'You have no idea how hard it is Clive,' Esme sighed slumping on the granite worktop. 'E had to sort out how much money she was getting and I had to pull out all of my savings.'
'Why don't you just get a job?' Clive asked. 'As stupid as that question must sound.'
Ecie laughed. 'Es needs to spend as much time as she can hitting the books. She doesn't have enough time to get a job.'
'So you're okay in providing for both of you?'
'I get some really good discounts at the store so we don't have to worry about clothes, but when it comes to gas and food, I've got enough money to spend on that stuff,' Ecie replied. 'I don't mind doing it as long as I know that Es is doing something.'
'So what do you do Es?' Clive laughed. 'Do you clean the apartment?'
'I load the dishwasher and do all the chores,' Esme replied. 'I'm like the live-in maid.'
'How do you rate her service?' Clive asked.
'I think she does a good job,' Ecie replied. 'It means that I don't need to wash or clean anything. She even does laundry.'
'No way,' Clive chuckled. 'Can I move in with you guys?'
'You've got to look after dad and make sure that he eats,' Esme laughed. 'Besides you're also getting yourself involved with Eric.'
'I have to say,' Clive said. 'At first I wasn't really sure of him. I thought he was some billionaire hotshot who thought he was amazing. I also thought that Sofie was way out of his league and that he was everything she hated.'
They laughed.
'But then I started talking to him and he's an interesting guy,' Clive said. 'I like him now. He asked me to write a short piece for this magazine and I said I'd see if I had enough time.'
'Did he like it?' Ecie asked.
'I know he loved it,' Clive replied.
'Do we have a little man crush on mom's boyfriend?' Esme teased.
'I'm afraid not,' Clive laughed opening the refrigerator. 'I'm good as I am.'
'So what are the latest rumors going around?' Ecie asked. 'We've been away for too long.'
'Word on the street is that Martina Scotch got a boob job with her mom,' Clive replied taking out some eggs and milk. 'That was quite big.'
'She got a boob job? Why would she do that?'
'Her mother was a glamour model back in the day,' Clive replied taking out a pan. 'I think that mama Scotch just wanted her daughter to have a little lift.'
'I wonder what she looks like now,' Esme said. 'Her rack was already pretty big before.'
'Well I imagine that she'll look a little different,' Clive said. 'She also got her nose done too.'
'These days you can get anything done,' Ecie said reaching for the fruit bowl and taking out a carrot. 'Do carrots count as fruit?'
'No dear,' Clive said looking at Ecie. 'That's a vegetable.'
