Ecie & Esme III: Forever and a Day

The Apartment: One

'How was it in Laguna?' Lauren asked sitting on the roof of her new apartment with her new roommates, Ecie, Esme and Verde. They were joined by Ed and Taylor.

'It was good,' Ecie nodded. 'We were sensible weren't we Ed?'

'Oh yeah,' Ed nodded. 'We were on our best behavior.'

'So basically you went out drinking every night,' Verde said shaking his head and rolling his eyes. 'What is up with you guys?'

'Actually,' Ed said pointing his index finger in Verde's face. 'We stayed in drinking.'

'Yeah,' Ecie said. 'We didn't even really go out.'

'We went out a couple of times,' Ed said. 'That was to buy alcohol and cigarettes, midnight surf and lay on the beach.'

'What was your original reason for going to Laguna in the first place?' Lauren asked taking a bit of her watermelon.

'To recharge my batteries,' Ecie replied. 'Ed was kind enough to join me.'

'I was indeed,' Ed smiled kissing Ecie on the cheek. 'We had a ball.'

'So what are you doing now?' Taylor asked looking up from Esme's neck.

'So you've finished devouring her?' Ecie said looking back at him.

'What do you think?' Taylor joked. 'A work of art.'

'I wish you guys would get a room,' Verde said rubbing his head. 'It's not polite to do that kind of thing at the breakfast table.'

'Whatever,' Esme laughed.

'What are you doing today?' Lauren asked.

'I need to get down to the gym,' Ecie replied. 'Do you need a ride to class?'

'Yeah,' Lauren replied. 'I'm leaving in an hour.'

'That's cool,' Ecie replied. 'I just need to tie my hair up and get dressed.'

'Did you see Caner?' Esme asked.

'Did we Ed?'

'He stopped by the house a few times,' Ed laughed. 'Those were some good times. What did we do?'

'I thought Caner was at college,' Verde said. 'What's he doing?'

'He's working at the yacht club,' Ed replied. 'He didn't get into college.'

'No way,' Esme laughed. 'Seriously?'

'Oh yeah,' Ecie said. 'I remember him talking about it for a bit. It was quite funny. I can't remember what he said happened.'

'I don't know,' Ed shrugged. 'It means that he can hang out all the time.'

'And this was the guy you wanted Es to date,' Taylor scoffed. 'What does he do all day?'

'Live off his father,' Ed laughed. 'What do all Laguna losers do?'

'Caner isn't a loser,' Ecie said looking at Ed. 'Be nice.'

'He is a little bit of a loser,' Verde said. 'Can you imagine him at forty?'

'Leave him alone guys,' Ecie said. 'Stop ganging up on him.'

'Is he an ex or something?' Lauren asked.

'Oh god no,' Ecie laughed. 'I've never dated him and I don't think I ever will.'

'But you've slept with him more times than any girlfriend has,' Ed said looking at Ecie and smiling at her. 'Haven't you?'

'Shut up Ed,' Ecie said hitting him. 'Just shut up.'
