The key to every great plan, is a brilliant mind that nails things right all the time.

There could be no room for error, for every turn and every movement connects with the next one in sequence and a mistake in the sequence can cause an unstoppable cascade of unwanted events. Like a maestro conductor in his podium, each instrument must be in harmony and on point.

With so little time to prepare for the wedding, my sixteen-hour work days became twenty-hours. I let Aria-nee work out everything we needed for the actual wedding since she'd been preparing hers with Montecillo, there was only the matter of revising everything on her wedding planners list.

I can't believe the sheer number of things required to make a wedding possible. From choosing colors, to tasting food, to choosing fabrics, flowers, venues, entourage, cakes, themes... The list was endless. I let Aria decide on most of them, except on the flowers. I told her that I want forget-me-nots, purple roses, and clover.

My work is piling up on a steady basis. The requests could be as mundane as redesigning the lobby lights to construction of a new hotel overseas. Sometimes I wonder how my dad do all these things. No wonder Lolo always looks tired and short-tempered. When every single important thing relies on your decision-making skills, you can't afford to play.

Nakakabaliw.

"Scott," I called out to my secretary. Napatigil siya sa pag-re-report. "Marami pa ba 'yan?"

"Well there is the quarterly report on the sales from the Apple Tree group, then the plans for the expansion of the North American branch..." he rattled off the list at napapikit ako. I can't let this job run me. Tama si Dianne.

"Scott," he paused what he was saying to listen to what I have to say, "sinong nag-a-approve niyan bago ako dumating dito?" I'm pretty sure someone else takes care of all these paperwork before I came in. Malaking kumpanya ang Monte Arevalo and it doesn't run itself.

"Each member of the Board heads a certain department..." There. I now pinpointed the problem.

"And they used to process all these?" I gestured to the pile in front of me.

Napatigil si Scott bago sumagot,"well, um yes."

"So why are all these papers on my desk? Anong ginagawa ng mga departments? Aren't I supposed to give the final decision after they have processed, selected, and studied these reports?"

"P-pero your grandpa said you needed the experience..."

"Not if he wanted me to function properly. I understand what he wants me to do. Gusto niyang maintindihan ko ang process pero keeping me cooped with endless reports inside this office is not helping it. Mas gusto ko pang pumunta sa field at ng ma-observe ko kung ano ba talagang kailangang improvements ng kumpanya. And these..." I pushed the stack away, "are just mere words. For them to have meaning, I want to talk to the people behind these reports." I turned away from Scott. "Arrange meetings with the different departments." I stretched my arms above my head. Na-mi-miss ko ng lumangoy. I just want to clear my head.

"That's all. Let's call it a night, Scott." Sa unang pagkakataon ay nakita kong naging genuine yung ngiti ng secretary ko. Alam kong pati siya ay nahihirapan pero ayaw niyang magreklamo dahil ito ang utos ng Senior Monte Arevalo.

Well then, things are gonna be really different with me on the helm.
