Once I made it out to my car I sat back gripping the edges of the seat with my eyes closed trying to focus on my breathing.
In.......
Out......
After a few moments I could feel my heart rate start to slow and the air in my lungs came a little more freely.
'Fuck! Been awhile since that has happened.' I thought.
Starting my car I quickly headed out of the car park and out of town. I needed to clear my head. I pulled out my phone and pulled up the Chandelier song that she had been listening to while "running"
Not exactly something I pictured her listening to. The lyrics ran deep and were full of struggle. Whatever she was running from had her deeply troubled and I found myself wanting to take it all away from her. She didn't deserve whatever she was battling against and it was in that moment that I thought back on her gorgeous emerald green eyes that held so much and made it my personal mission to seek out anything and everything about the girl who was quickly invading my soul that I could.~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I awoke to the most annoying sound I had ever heard. It took me a second to try and focus on what was making such horrible racket at an early hour but it had to be made to shut up! I sat up rubbing my throbbing head peaking my eyes open that instantly left me regretting that decision.
"Fuck! Stop the ringing already!!!!"
Through squinting eyes I crawled off the couch in the floor on all fours and around the room until I found the source of the sound. Picking up my phone I answered with a hateful snap
"What?!?!"
"Oh God.....What did you do?" Amy asked
"What? Nothing I was sleeping and I have a headache..." I explained
"Joss....what happened?"
I sat in the floor with my eyes closed as my head throbbed and stomach rolled. Taking a deep breath I replied "I don't know."
I could her sigh heavily on the other end.
"How many did you have?"
"I uh...I lost count."
"Why? That's not like you."
"David." I answered as if that said everything she needed to know.
"What did he do?"
"He came to see me last night at the hotel."
"He did?!?!?!" She asked excitedly
" Yes. I was in the gym running and he just came out of no where. He asked me for a drink but I turned him down and ended up snapping at him then I accepted his offer..."
"Then what?" She pushed
"That's where it gets fuzzy, but I did manage to make it back to my room so it couldn't have been THAT bad." I tried to justify
"Well that is good I guess."
"Yeah...hang on one sec. There is someone at my door."
Crawling across the room on all fours I slowly stood to answer the door.
"Holy Fuck! Amy I'll have to call you back." I said as I hit the end button with her yelling out my name.
"You look like hell." He said grinning from ear to ear when I pulled open the door.
"Nice observation. I feel like it too. What are you doing here?"
" To talk. May I come in?"
"Sure." I slid over to allow Larry to make his way in.
"Make yourself at home if you are not in a hurry. I'll be right back."
"Sure. Go ahead and take your time."
Fifteen minutes later I emerged freshly showered and clothed. I poured myself a cup of coffee Larry must have made before taking a seat next to him on the couch.
"Thanks for this" I said raising my cup to him.
"No problem. Looked like you could use it. Have a good night?" He raised a brow at me.
"I guess why?"
"Just wondered. Was David able to find you and return your belongings?"
"My belongings?"
"Yeah. He had called and said you left a few things on set and was going to bring them to you." he explained.
Pausing for a minute I quickly caught on to his lie.
"Oh...that....yeah he did. Very sweet of him."
"Uh huh." He continued to stare at me.
"What do you want Larry? I know you didn't come here just to make me coffee and tell me how I look like hell as much fun as you would get out of that."
"Do you remember talking to me last night?"
"We did?" I shot him a puzzled look causing him to grin.
"Yeah. We did. That's why I am here. I didn't figure you would remember hanging up on me." he chuckled.
"I what?!?! Oh God Larry I'm so sorry..."
"It's fine. Quite funny really but I figured catching you sober would be more ideal."
"No kidding."
"So...the reason I called was to ask you to fill in for me with David's next several events coming up."
"What?? Why?"
"I got contracted into a series and I will be tied up with that for a bit."
"Larry... I don't know. I need to get back to New York."
"Whats waiting on you there besides work and that roommate of yours? I wouldn't ask you if it were not important and besides.....you will be compensated very nicely for your time."
"Can I atleast think about it?"
"Sure. But I will need an answer by Friday."
"This Friday? That's like 2 days away!"
"I know but he has to be in Miami next week for a shoot there."
"You can't be serious."
"Very."
I slumped down in the couch and closed my eyes breathing a deep breath.
"And just how long will you need me??"
"Four weeks.....minimum."
"Wow" I sighed
"Please? For me?"
"I'll seriously think it over."
"You will?"
"Yeah."
"Well...I'll get out of your hair now. What time does your flight leave for home?"
"Tonight.....around 8ish I believe."
"Ok. Why not meet me for dinner say 5 and let me beg and convince you to stay?"
"Fine. Text me the time and place and I'll be there."
"Just be ready and I'll send a car for you."
"Ok"
"Great! See you tonight then" He said patting my knee before getting up heading out the door.
Just great! Larry needing me for a minimum of 4 weeks with the David is exactly what I did NOT need right now...........
