The flight took forever! I never thought I would land on home soil but at 2 am my feet met pavement. I could only imagine the beautiful sight I was going to come home to. Joss curled up in the bed, the covers draped loosely around her waist and her hair splayed out across my pillow. I knew it would be my pillow because I have come home to her on several occasions to her sleeping with it. She said it helped her sleep better which in return made me smile.
Quickly hailing a cab I was growing anxious by the second. If only humans could fly I could be home by now.
Closing the cab door behind me heading up the walkway I stopped in my tracks. Where was that music coming from at this hour? It wasn't anything obnoxious...just a piano playing softly but at almost 3 am...it was odd.
Unlocking the door I stepped inside to a dim light in the sitting room and quickly realized the piano was coming from there. Puzzled I dropped my bags quietly down on the wood herringbone floor before peeking into the room. There sat Joss wearing nothing but an oversized off the shoulder sweater playing the sweetest of sounds. I crossed my arms over my chest and leaned against the door frame just listening to her as she quietly played and sang a song. I had only heard her that one time before which now seemed forever ago, but now standing here....really soaking her in...she in this moment literally took my breath away. Everything was perfect. The glow of the candle light against her skin...her voice...the lyrics of the song she was singing....every single thing perfect. No longer able to stay away I crept over to her leaning over to gently kiss her cheek.
"Holy fucking shit!!" She jumped up spinning around so fast I nearly fell over. "Jesus Christ asshole!! You scared me!!" She yelled placing her hand over her chest trying to slow her breathing. I couldn't help but laugh a little."I'm terribly sorry. You just looked so beautiful I couldn't resist you another moment." I said pulling her into me. She gave a small smirk before wrapping her arms around my waist. I could feel her heart still pounding away completely unsure if it was from the fright or being back in my arms but I prefer to believe it was the later of the two.
"Hi there gorgeous." I rasped running my hands through her hair looking deep into her emerald green eyes.
"Hey there handsome. I'm glad you're home."
"Mmmmm. Me too." I leaned in gently placing my lips to hers. She tasted of all things Joslyn vanilla with a hint of mint that always left me wanting more. "What are you still doing up at this hour? I expected you to be well off asleep."
"Too antsy. Ready for you to be home." She smiled.
"Is that so."
"Yes sir. Are you hungry or want a drink? I made a little pot of vegetable soup earlier...nothing fancy but we wanted some so...yeah...." she giggled rubbing her belly.
"I don't need anything except for you and little peanut of course."
"Well come on and I'll run you a bath and then we can go lay down."
"Now that sounds like heaven....but one question."
"Ok....."
"Where in the hell did the piano come from? I was honestly so caught up in you earlier I'm just now realizing there is a piano in here..."
"Oh! That....just a little something I picked up today while out with your mom and Claire. I hope you don't mind...."she trailed off biting her bottom bee stung lip.
"Not at all. Just so long as you had no part in moving it."
"Not one bit."
