Chapter 10

"It's very beautiful here. Very peaceful and quiet." I say interrupting the silence as we walk side by side along the river.

"It's is. I come here to think a lot. Well.....I use to that is."

"I can see why."

Once again she fell silent.

"What's on your mind?"

"Everything."

"Tell me."

"How did you know where to find me?"

"Amy. "

"But how did you even..."

"Find her?" I cut her off " It took some maneuvering I'm not going to lie but through Larry."

"I see.... How long where you standing there....you know if the doorway?" She asked so quietly I had to strain to hear.

"Long enough."

"Great."

"Is that what haunts you? And the nightmares?"

She stopped dead in her tracks and looked up at me.

"No. I'm not discussing this with you. Not here."

"But somewhere?" I challenged.

She sighed softly before looking away.

"Why do you want to know or even care?"

"Because I like you Joslyn even care for you believe it or not. I want to know you.."

"But you can't. You're engaged."

"I'm not."

Her head jerked back for her eyes to meet mine.

"What?"

"You heard me. I'm no longer engaged."

"What happened?"

"She saw the photos..."

"Oh David I'm so sorry! Do I need to call her and explain that it's not what it looked like?? Tell her nothing is going on?"

"Quiet!" I grabbed her by the waist and pulled her up against me. "I want something to go on......if you will allow it. I was the one who broke it off"

"You can't do that!"

"Why not?"

She grew quiet....thoughts running through her head.

"So then what explains about what happened at the shoot then."

Taking her hand in mine I lead the way continuing to walk not having the courage to say what I needed to say face to face just yet.

"So about that...." I hesitated.

"You don't have to tell me if you don't want to David it's fine. I'm just trying to understand."

"You make me feel things Joslyn....things I've never felt before and sometimes it overwhelms me and I just need to take a minute....."
