There he stood right before me his eyes never leaving mine both unsure of what to say to the other. The pep talk I had given myself earlier while getting ready now completely out the window.
I didn't know how much time had or was passing as we drank each other in but my body was fully aware of his presence.
My eyes widened momentarily as I saw his hand moving near my face but quickly melted into his touch now grazing my cheek. I closed my eyes and swallowed hard. When I re-opened them I swear he had moved even closer sending my body humming alive with joy.
I opened my mouth to speak but closed it when he spoke before me."Dance with me."
It wasn't a request. He held his hand out for me to accept. I gently placed my hand in his instantly reeling from the electric current flowing from the contact. He smiled knowingly before leading the way out to the dance floor in the middle of everyone's curious stares. I instantly froze realizing the attention we were drawing. He grabbed my face in both his hands bringing my eyes to his.
"Breathe baby. It's just you and me. No one else." I nodded softly as his hands slide down from my face to my lower back holding me to his front as we moved together to the sweet sound of X Ambassadors Unsteady in the background.
"God you're so beautiful Joslyn." He breathed. I squirm beneath him his words hitting me at my core. I felt the need to say something but nothing came out.
"Joslyn...." David started but was interrupted by Tom.
"I'm sorry to interrupt but David may I steal you away for a moment? There is someone we need to go see.""Can it wait?" David almost sneered to Tom although his eyes never left mine despite Tom's presence.
"No. No. David it's fine. Please go ahead. I'm just going to go find Amy. We can catch up later." I assured him with a slight smile.
"No. It can wait."
"David....it will be just a moment I promise." Tom urged.
"Fine. Five minutes. That's all you get. Not a second more." Before he turned to leave he pulled me as close to him as humanly possible his mouth brushing against my ear the heat from his breath warming me.
"We are not finished here. I expect you back here in exactly five minutes. Understood?"
I nodded quickly.
"Good. Do not run from me again. I'll return shortly."
I watched on as he reluctantly walked away disappearing in a sea of people. Awkwardly standing in the middle of the dance floor I needed a moment to gather myself and set off making my way through the dark room lit in shades pinks and purples.
Surprisingly the bathroom was fairly empty just a few ladies touching up their faces. I went to the very last stall closed the door and lid and sat down taking a deep breath.
Wow! I knew I had missed David....I really did. I just didn't realize how much he effected me until I was standing before him and it was in that moment I knew.
I loved him.
I wanted him.
I wanted to spend my life with him."Holy shit!" I whispered aloud just as the walls began echoing with shrills of laughter.
"Can you believe her?" A catty voice dripped in disgust said to another.
"Oh. My. God.....I can't even believe he would go there. Molly you look ten million times better. Trust me." Another said.
Wait. What? Molly? Surely this isn't the SAME Molly here......
"It breaks my heart really. For her. I mean look at her!!! She is the farthest from his type! Let's face it she is no size 2." The third voice replied and I knew in that second.....it was her. FUCK! I was stuck.
They continued to laugh it up and talk about me and the anger grew the longer I sat there until I've had enough. I knew it had way past the five minutes David had allotted for me and was probably searching in a frantic state but I had business to take care of first. Standing up I straightened my dress and opened the door. They grew quiet as I walked up behind them meeting their gazes in the mirror realizing it was me.
"I may not be a "perfect" size 2 but I can tell you this.....I sure do have the ass and curves that David LOVES to grab onto!" I sneered before looking them over and exiting the ladies room.
Ha! The looks on their faces were priceless! I felt so relieved to get that out!
I looked around the room of everyone milling about and dancing the night away. I needed a drink. Lord how I needed a drink! I was crossing the room to head over to the open bar but was grabbed at the elbow.
