I got to the airport as fast as I could and grabbed the first flight out which thankfully left in an hour. I was a nervous wreck pacing back and forth just blankly staring at the shiny floors. The airport was scarce which was a good thing because I couldn't sit still and looked a wreck with my oversized hoodie, leggings, and messy bun.
I had tried to call and text Amy and David hundreds of time with no success so I was left to wonder what could possibly be happening back at home alone.
Completely lost in my worrisome thoughts I jumped out of skin hearing my boarding call overhead.
Settling in for the long flight ahead I had tried to reach David or Amy once more to no avail. Sighing I powered off my phone before throwing it in my bag. Just my luck. When I needed them most they were no where to be found. I know it wasn't their fault but I couldn't help but to feel so upset and alone. I glanced around the nearly empty plane and sighed. This was going to be the longest plane ride to ever go down in history. Why has someone yet to invent time travel?!?! I got as comfortable as I possibly could and closed my eyes praying that sleep would soon consume me.

I walked off of the plane as fast as my tired legs would carry me until I came to the sight of my cousins Will and Dustin sitting with their head in their hands. Will looked up hearing my footsteps against the cold bare floor a mirror of how I felt. He looked sad...and down right exhausted. His once lively brown eyes now dull and held so much baggage. I quickly ran over to him and into his arms.

"Hey.  How was your flight?" He forced out.

"It was fine. What's going on?"

I looked between him and Dustin who now stood next to his brother.  He quickly took me into his arms wrapping game tightly against him. I could feel how tense he was. It was like he was holding the weight of the world on his shoulders and it was going to give at any given moment. He kissed the top of my forehead before letting me go.

"Tell me." I demanded of the two.

"Come. Let's get your bags. Not here ok?"

"Is it Charlotte? Is she ok?"

"Come on you stubborn ass. We will talk outside. I could use the fresh air." Dustin pushed.

"Fine. Lets go."

They were both quiet not saying a word walking through the fairly empty airport.
The sun was now up shining bright through the windows fooling you to how nice the weather really wasn't outside. Being from the south I knew that now matter how bright that sun would shine one step outside and the fall crisp air would bite ya and at this point it's a bite I could really use.
We loaded my bags into the trunk of the black SUV.
"Here you take the front seat." Dustin said to me holding the door open.
"Thanks." I gave him a slight smile then climbed in. We rode in silence for what felt like hours but in reality was only minutes weaving our way through traffic to reach the interstate.

"Ok so now....we have like two hours to kill before we get home. One of you better tell me what the hell is going on and now!" I looked over at Will who was driving watching him share looks at Dustin through the rear view mirror.
"Damn it!! Now!" I was beyond frustrated.

"Ok ok..." Dustin caved. "Yes...its momma. She didn't want us to worry you about it, but...we felt at this point you need and deserve to know."

"Ok......so....?"

They shared one last look when Will looked over at me with the saddest look in his eyes.

"She has cancer Joss. Cervical cancer."

"What?!?!" My world felt as if it had stopped. I could hear Will talking in the background but I couldn't make out any words. My heart was beating a mile a minute and the thumping in my ears was deafening. I felt sick. I had to swallow the bile that threatened to come up.
