"Ladies and gentlemen, may I now introduce for the very first time...Mr. And Mrs. David Gandy." An announcer called out into the microphone as everyone around us cheered.
"May I have this dance with my wife?" David turned to me holding out his hand.
"I'd be delighted my husband." I smiled at him as smiled back and gave my hand a gentle squeeze leading me out onto the floor. The sun was just beginning to set and you could see all of the twinkling lights coming to life.
David spun me around before pulling me close into his arms. "I've waited so long for this very moment with you." He rasped."I'm glad it's finally here." I replied.
"Hmmm. Well here is to our first dance and to many many more." He said giving a slight nod with a guitar strumming to life. Chills ran down my body as my knees grew weak. David beamed with excitement as I turned to see Ed Sheeran performing at our wedding.
"Oh my god!! You didn't???"
"Only for you." He stated as we began to move to the perfect words....
"I'm dancing in the dark/ with you between arms/ Bare foot on the grass / listening to our favorite song/ when I saw you in that dress/ looking so beautiful/ I don't deserve this/ darling you look so perfect tonight..."
"I can't believe you did this. It's perfect." I kissed his lips ever so softly taking in all things David who was now my husband. I never saw myself here in life....married with a child on the way, but honestly, there is no where I'd rather be. Yeah, sure, I had a shit show of a past and you could say it made me the person who I was today....but the reality of it is...I am who I am despite all of that. I survived and now have the opportunity to have a beautiful life and there was no way in hell I was going to let anyone get in the way of that.
"That came to an end way sooner than I wanted it to." He pouted still swaying me along."It did, but I'm sure there will be more opportunities for dancing later, but for now it's my turn. I have a surprise for you so to speak."
His face lit up like a kid in a candy store.
"A surprise for me?""Yes. Now come." I took his hand and led him over to the piano that was set up just off to the side of the dance floor. "Stand here." I informed before sitting down at the bench. It felt so odd at first having all of our friends and family staring so intently at our intimate moments, but looking up at him made everything else fade away.
"I wanted to sing a little something for my now husband to show my appreciation for all that he is and all that he makes us in our relationship. I love you." I smiled slightly before letting my fingers run softly over the keys......
"Wise men say...only fools rush in/ but I can't help falling in love with you/ oh shall I stay/ would it be a sin/ oh if I can't help falling in love with you/ like a river flows /surely to the sea/ darling so it goes/ some things are meant to be/ take my hand/ take my whole life too/ oh for I can't help falling in love with you" (Haley Reinhart version)
As the last note came floating out, David sat next to me on the bench taking my face in his hands.
"That was incredible. Thank you." He whispered tears threatening to spill over."You're very welcome." I smiled as he ever so softly crashed his lips to mine gently deepening the kiss. The crowd began to clap and cheer but thankfully music filled the room taking some of the attention away from our intimate moment.
"I can't ask for anything more than this night with you." He informed leaning his forehead to mine.
"It really has been a dream. I can't thank you for it all."
