Temptations are ever near
Fiddling with the dull blade
You contemplate your fate
Deciding on what path to take
You draw the blade over leg
Hide away, hide away
No one shall ever know
They are the ones who caused the pain
Never could they understand
Falling into the pit you slice your leg again
Never does it seem to satisfy
The longing urge to cut out the pain
Why, why you plead to the stars above
No reply comes to your aid
Losing all hope you make the final choice
One to end all the pain
This time once and for all
Pulling the wine from the shelf
And the pills from the cabinet
You say your last goodbye
And raise your glass one last time
Down they go as you take a drink
Now knowing what will follow
You head upstairs and tuck yourself in
And you sing just like your mama used to
A lullaby, your favorite one
Closing your eyes you wait
You wait for what is going to come
Warmth appears around the corner
The light shining so very bright
Just as bright as the stars above
Disappearing from the world
Not even leaving a ripple in your wake
