How sad when you think
You know someone so well
Yet they surprise you
With how they are feeling
Mask upon mask they hide
First is courage
The next is humour
After that is anger
The grief then sadness
And keep taking them off
One by one the facade falls away
Stripping away what you know
And all that is left
Is loneliness, but then you see
You see that there is one more
There hiding beneath
Pulling away the final mask
You find all that is left
Is horrifying fear
Fear of abandonment
Fear of not fitting in
Fear of being hated
Fear of being alone forever
Fear that I'm not good enough
Fear that I'm not worth it
Fear that I'm a monster
Fear that no one could love me
Everlasting fear
Never ceasing
In my soul there lies fear
