I fight to stay above the water
But the more I fight
The further I descend
Body becoming dense
It becomes so much to carry
Though I keep fighting
With my last breath
I reach my hand up
Up to the sun
That is shining
Above the water
The light that is so close
But out of my reach
I clutch my heart
As my vision becomes fuzzy
Setting from the outside in
Taking away all remnants
Of the light from my mind
Until I close my eyes
And let the water
Sink into my lunges
Consuming my life
Dragging me away
To a place unreachable
By any living man
Hair floating around
And covering my face
Hand still at my heart
And the other reaching for the light
Though my body drifts
Farther away from the light
And farther into the dark
