Come see the girl with claws
Fangs that peek out from her lips
Eyes that glow in the dark
Placed on display before all
Though when they see this girl
They find an illusion
Of the very things they've been told
Though underneath the lies
Is a frightened young woman
Trapped behind bars and layers of glass
No claws, no eyes that glowed in the dark
Though she does have fangs
But not as big as described
she is not a monster
Sadly those lies have been placed
Within her mind and others
And she will always remember
The things that were said
Horrible and cruel things
That were said through grit teeth
As they spat at her feet
One day someone saw through the facade
And saw the real human underneath
The girl who saw her
Placed her hand on the glass
And tried to get a glimpse past the bars
Never has the commodity seen
Someone who looked at her as a person
The girl smiled and waved toward her
And looked at the caged girl with love
Until one day the girl
Finally fell tame to the facade
Willing herself to stop
Believing what she thought she saw
And came to be like the rest
For who could ever love a beast?
