Hope a word that inspires many
Gives them something
To look forward to
A word that keeps eyes glistening
And heads high
But hope can be lost
And when lost
It isn't so easily found
Everything comes to an end
Things won't go as planned
But hope will still be there
Though that friend is long gone
At least for me
Though I find myself
Clinging to a false hope
Not able to bare the truth
For now the sun has set
And the moon has fallen
Leaving me shrouded in darkness
Pitch black as far as the eye can see
Not the slightest hint of light
It's a lonely and painful place
Not knowing where you're going
Or even what direction you're heading
Fumbling around like a fool
Deadly things come to fools
Who have lost their way
You cannot tell where you are stepping
You take a step forward
And nothing is there
Down you go falling off a cliff
Darkness seeming to laugh
At you in the distance
But what can you do but cry
And shut your eyes
Though the darkness
Claimed your sight so long ago
