Darkness blankets your eyes
For all you can see is the shadows
The shadows that lie in wait
Sweat drips down your face
And your breath becomes labored
Running and hiding
You try to out run them
The ones that are always following
Heart racing faster than normal
You trip and fall to the ground below you
The shadows creep up from behind
And lay their icy touch on your spine
Taking all warmth from you
Breathing slightly and vision fading
You try to get up
But you fall back down to the dewy grass
Eyelids fluttering
Heart rate slowing
Chill setting in
Nothing is left now
Trapped in the cold rain
It falls gracefully upon your face
Tears streak your face
As your breath leaves you
And as your vision fades
Time has caught up
Death has finally caught it's prey
The rain drips from the leaves
As your lifeless body lays in pain
Forever falling into a pit of darkness
And the shadows claim your sight
Never shall you be able to see the light again
