Chapter 30,
--Aidan's POV--
"So, there's nothing in here?" Jerome interrupts the silence that had filled the room.
"Maybe I was wrong whenever I said that the key was to get to the center of the room?" KT sighs.
I continue to stare at the words Room Two. I stand from my squatting position and turn towards the other two.
"No this is it. See." I point towards the words on the wall.
Jerome nods. "But we still don't know what to do next. Does the map say anything?"
KT pulls it out and sighs. She looks up towards us before showing us that the paper is now blank. I let out a loud groan. Of course.
"Well now how are we supposed to get out?" Jerome's eyes were wide. "We don't know the way to get out without the paper." He begins pacing back and forth.
"Calm down, there has to be another way out." I tell him. But secretly I'm wondering the exact same thing.
KT sits down putting her head in her hands. I also sit down and lean back against the wall. I pull the Book Of Gates out from where I had it held. I begin to read through some of the chapters, there were twelve in total. Each chapter was about each of the gates in which a person or soul passes through on their way to the afterlife. There were twelve hours and at the end of every hour a gate. According to this book hour's were much longer than a mortal hour, an hour up there is like a week down here.
So where exactly was Gracie at then? How long ago did she go missing? I've been here almost a week and judging from how Fabian and Eddie said she's been gone for a while she must be at least in the Sixth hour, she may be even further. That made my heart race, she was so close to the Twelfth hour, once she makes it to it she's gone.
I continue reading, I was already in the eighth chapter. I've been reading through the book all week and finally made it to the eighth. The whole journey through the hour's was made on the water, in a boat where the Gods would tug you along in a slow motion throughout all the cities into the gates. The Eighth hour was located in the city of Tebat-Neteru-Set and the gate was called, Aha-An-Urt-F. If Gracie was this far already we were in some real trouble. That would mean we would only have give or take four to five weeks left to save her.
"Ah, this sucks!" Jerome groans. His pacing begins to speed up and it draws my attention. I shake my head, I need to stay focused on the book. It may have some answers hidden in it.
"Jerome, would you stop!" KT pleads lifting her head from her hands. "Pacing around freaking out isn't going to solve anything!"
Jerome sends her a glare and continues to pace. His pacing getting longer. I look back down at the book whenever I hear a loud cracking sound enter the room.
"Whoops!" Jerome mutters.
My head whips up in his direction and I see him frozen in his place. A foot slightly sunken into the floor.
"Oh god, what did you do?" KT quickly stands.
My eyes widen as sounds began to occur throughout the room. "Don't move!" I send a look towards the both of them.
"Is it a booby-trap?" KT asks. Her eyes were glued to the place Jerome had stepped on.
"I don't know." I answer.
"Why me of all people?" Jerome sighs while a pout forms on his face.
Suddenly the room begins to shake slightly. My eyes move to the middle of the floor where the floor had disappeared. Something was appearing from the place where the floor once was. I squint trying to tell what it was. My eyes widen at the structure once it appears.
It was a large statue of the God, Set. How could I tell? Well because his animal-like curved snout, long rectangular ears, thin forked tail, and canine-like body. It was hard to not tell who he was, well for me anyways. Jerome and KT just looked at the stone man confused.
"It's the God, Set." I informed them.
"Oh." KT nods.
"Can I move my foot yet?" Jerome asks.
"Yes." I answer him. My eyes run over the statue once more, that's odd one of his eyes is made out of glass? There is nothing in Egyptian mythology about him having a glass eye?
"What now?" KT asks moving closer to me.
"It has to have something to do with that glass eye." I reply turning towards her.
Jerome throws an arm over my shoulder. "The real question is, how are we getting out of here?"
I shrug his arm off and send him an, are you serious look?
He raises his hands and gives me a, what look? "It's getting late."
"He's right." KT says crossing her arms over her chest.
I sigh and nod. "I know."
We all three sit down and begin thinking of ways to get out for tonight.
"Should we just split up and whoever finds their way out yell so the other's can find their way out?" Jerome asks.
"No, no splitting up." I shake my head no. "That's the last thing we need to do."
"Yeah, what happens when none of us find our way out?" KT notes.
"Right." Jerome nods. I heard some odd sounds coming from somewhere inside the maze which drew my attention right away. "But what if..."
"Shh." I hush him. "Do you hear that?" I point towards the entrance to the middle of the maze.
We all went quiet and listened closely. It sounded as if someone or something was out there. It almost sounded like footsteps but not at the same time.
"What is that?" KT whispers with wide eyes.
"I don't know, but whatever it is..." I pause. "It's getting closer." I quickly stand and wave the others up. We move towards the entrance and hide along the wall so whatever it was wouldn't be able to see us and if it so happened to enter the center of the maze we could hopefully, easily get out before it saw us.
The sounds got closer. They were definitely footsteps.
"Are we almost there?" A voice is heard.
Jerome who was on the opposite side of the entrance drew my attention. His eyes were wide.
"It's Sibuna." He mouthed.

A/N:
Yay, it's finally back! I'll probably update again sometime soon! Maybe tonight or tomorrow! By the way the book of gates, the twelve hours, and gates are real Egyptian mythology things so you should look it up sometime. It's very interesting!
Video: Flower By: XIA (Junsu.) It has to do with either Greek or Egyptian mythology so I thought it would fit this chapter well!
Everyone thanks for being so patient with me! Hope you liked this chapter!
