Chapter 25: New Divide

Chapter 25,
--Jerome's POV--
After last year when Mara got kidnapped by that creepy ghost lady, Senkhara our relationship had never been the same.
She came to me a few days after we rescued her and she told me she could no longer be with me. Although it might've been because I'd lied to her about the whole Sibuna thing and I was never around to hang out with her.
Lately she's been texting some random guy, how'd I know that, well I'm a good over-the-shoulder text reader. His name was Peter. It made my skin crawl every time I heard her phone beep.
More importantly I've been noticing that Alfie hasn't been returning to our room at night anymore. That must mean that Sibuna was active again. Why don't they ever invite me to join in their mysterious activities? Sure I screwed up once or twice but seriously I'm their friend, right?
"Dude, why is there a third bed in our room?" I hear Eddie ask as he walked into the dining room.
"I was wondering that myself." Fabian looks up toward Eddie. "You don't think Mick's come back do you?"
"He's got that scholarship, why would he?" Mara questions.
"I don't know, why would we have a third bed in our room," Eddie says as he sits down.
The Anubis house was getting another resident, we had a lot already. Patricia, Joy, and Mara shared a room. Nina and Amber shared together. The new girl KT took Gracie's place and shared with Sophie. KT didn't really talk to any of us, although the school year had just begun and it looked as if she was having a hard time making friends. Now boy wise I shared with Alfie and Fabian and Eddie shared. We don't have much room for anyone else.
"Trudy, is Mick coming back?" I ask her as she sets some bagels down on the middle of the table. Alfie grabs one as soon as her hands leave the plate.
"No, we've got a new student coming in. I hear he's a smart one." She smiles before heading into the kitchen to bring in more of the breakfast.
"Great, that's all we need, another nerd." I roll my eyes.
We heard Victor clear his throat. "I'm guessing you're aware that a new student is to be staying at Anubis house. I suggest you treat him well."
Victor telling us to treat someone well? This guy must be a super nerd!
"Is he here?" Trudy questions him.
Trudy leaves and returns, "Students this is Aidan Cooper." The guy steps out from behind Trudy, and he was the exact opposite of a nerd. He was a natural pretty boy.
I hear a piece of silverware fall to the table. One of the girls must be drooling. I turn to see which one it was, but it wasn't a girl it was Fabian. He was wide eyed and he glanced toward Nina who gave him a confused look. He whispered something in her ear and her eyes go wide too. She glances at the new boy and then back to Fabian. Did they know each other? Or was this something different?
--Fabian's POV--
The new guy stepped out from behind Trudy and immediately my mouth drops. I also dropped my fork in the process. This was the Aidan guy from when I was trapped in the tubes by Senkhara. What is going on? Was this just a coincidence? Please tell me it was. I whisper to Nina that he was in my Senkhara dream. She looked at me shocked and looked Aidan over.
I wonder if this Aidan's mom died from cancer?
"Aidan these are your roommates Fabian and Eddie." Trudy introduces us.
"Hi." Eddie says.
"Hi." Aidan speaks for the first time. He was British, just like he was in my dream.
"I'll have them show you to your room." Trudy heads back to the kitchen.
Both Eddie and I stand and show Aidan to our room. "Your bed is over there." I say, pointing toward the new empty bed in the corner of the room.
"Thanks." He says before lying down on his bed.
"So what school did you go to before this one?" Eddie asks.
"Well I was homeschooled before this." He sits up. "And you guys?"
"I'm from America." Eddie smiles. "I don't think you'd know any schools from there."
"True. And you." He asks me.
"Well I've always went to this school." I sit down on the end of my bed.
"Why'd you choose this school?" I ask casually trying to not sound like I was prying for information.
"Well I was supposed to move completely across England but I decided to go here because this is the place my mom graduated from." He sighs.
"Really." Eddie smiles. "My dad's the principal here so that's why I'm here."
"Mr. Sweet is your dad?" Aidan smirks.
"Yeah." Eddie nods.
"You seem totally different from him." He stands.
"I get that a lot." Eddie laughs. I manage a laugh too, I'm just too freaked out to actually think that that was funny.
"There's actually another reason I came to this school." He smiles. "I love Egyptian mythology, my favorite is the goddess Isis. Unfortunately I wasn't able to room in that house, it's all girls. I was put into my second favorite, Anubis house."
"Fabian loves mythology too." Eddie smirks. "You guys will get along great."
"That's great." Aidan smiles. "Well I'd better get my luggage and bring it in."
As soon as he leaves the room I turn to Eddie. "Eddie I saw him in my Senkhara dream."
"What?" He looks at me in disbelief. "There's no way."
"I'm not kidding. His name was Aidan and he's the exact same guy that I saw in my dream." It was weird to say that I was seeing a guy in my dreams but it was true and it was freaking me out!
"What was he doing in your dream?" Eddie opens the door to check and see if he was coming.
"Going on a date with Gracie." I say. "But Gracie isn't here."
"Exactly. Does that mean he'll go on a date with Sophie? Since Gracie isn't here!" Eddie asks. "It's weird how he also likes the Goddess Isis."
I just sigh as a reply.
"He's coming back, act natural." He runs back to his bed and picks up a ball and tosses it into the air. I was already acting natural before.
The door opens and Aidan pulls two bags of luggage in and he walks them over to his bed and sets them down. He looks up at the picture above his bed, it was of all the residents of Anubis house, as of this past year.
"Whoa you guys have twin girls here?" He says still examining the picture.
"Well Patricia has a twin named Piper but she doesn't actually go to this school." Eddie notes.
"And Sophie's twin, Gracie isn't here anymore." I say.
"Which one is she?" He asks.
"The curly-haired one is Sophie. Gracie is the other."
"Hmm." Was all he said before he started unpacking. He kind of acted weird when he said that.
--Aidan's POV--
My first day here and it was awkward. I felt like Eddie liked me but Fabian didn't seem so happy that I was here.
As I lied in my bed Fabian and Eddie got ready for bed. I found my eyes drawn back to the picture of my housemates. Actually it wasn't my housemates it was the girl Gracie. She was pretty cute, it's a shame she didn't live here anymore. I wonder why her twin stayed and she left?
The lights went off and Eddie and Fabian got into their beds. I couldn't sleep so I lied on my side and tried to sleep but I knew it wasn't happening. After about 15 minutes I heard someone get up from bed. The door slowly creaked open and I saw two figures leave the room. Where were they going?
I quietly got up. I headed toward the door and listened. "Did he hear you get up?" I hear a male voice.
"No man he's out." I hear Eddie say.
"Come guys the girls are waiting." Was literally everyone sneaking out of their rooms but me? I waited till I heard their footsteps retreat before I slid my shoes on and stepped out as well.
Then I heard someone coming down the stairs. I stuck close to the wall hoping they weren't returning to their rooms just yet.
"Let's hurry. Before Victor hears us." I hear a girls voice. What are they doing?
I peek around the corner and see a brunette unlocking a door. If I remember correctly Victor said that was the cellar and that it was off limits. Why are they going down there?
I noticed that practically everyone was going down too. Maybe four people weren't apart of this group, and one of them was me.
They all disappeared into the cellar and I stepped out into the foyer and grabbed ahold of the handle. It was still unlocked, I turned the knob and quietly opened the door and stepped in. Past the door was stairs, after I shut the door I stepped down the stairs until I could see the others.
Fabian went up to a shelf and he reached to the top and started moving something above it. It was a number, I memorized it. All of the sudden the shelf slid to the right revealing a room. I stepped off the last step to get a better look. I hid behind a work table and watched as one by one they entered the hidden room.
"It's weird that the tunnel entrance is in this couch." I hear a girls voice say.
I heard someone mutter, "Remind me why we brought her?"
"She found all the clues last time. Besides she's the next best thing to Gracie. Well Gracie is in her now anyways." Another girl says. Gracie is in her? That doesn't make sense.
"But still didn't Isis take control of her last time you guys went down there?" Isis? I'm intrigued now.
"Yeah but we did find the other eye of Horus with her help." The girl says again. Horus?
"Come on guys." I heard Fabian's voice again. The door to the room slid shut after he said that.
Seriously what were they doing down here? A mysterious passage way? Isis being mentioned? I head to the shelf and enter the same number code I saw Fabian enter before and it slid open. That was too easy. Once I was in the room I noticed it was a private library. This seemed really cool. I just hoped they weren't going into these tunnel things to do some kind of satanic ritual or something completely weird like that.
The room was small but not too small. I remember one of the girls saying the tunnel entrance was in the red couch. I stood in front of the couch examining it. It was definitely old, and grungy. I lifted one of the cushions off and nothing was there. So I lifted the middle one next but it wouldn't budge. I tried again but only the back part came up, I pulled it forward and it revealed a stair case. Oh my god this was so cool.
I stepped into the tunnel. I made sure to close the cushion behind me just in case the others made it back before me. The tunnel was lit up so I followed it until I saw it narrowed to an end. I heard voices too. It was definitely the others.
I stayed close to the right wall and listened, their words didn't come out clear but I could tell Fabian was talking at the moment. I felt my hand catch something on the wall.
Open it.
I heard a voice whisper. I looked down at the wall and it was an Egyptian hieroglyphic on the wall, it said gate. I wonder what that's supposed to mean. The hieroglyphic was pretty close to the ground. I bent down to touch it, I noticed a small rock sticking out from the wall. I touched it and I could tell that I was supposed to move it. I pushed the rock in and a loud noise echoed throughout the hall.
Crap, I bet the others heard that. I looked back toward the end of the hall where the others were. I looked back at the wall but it was gone, it had made a small doorway. I entered quickly, I didn't want the others to find me down here. It quickly shut behind me. Crap, now I'm stuck in here. I looked around the space I was in and it was a large room. In the center of it was a podium. I walked over toward it and on it was a dusty old book.
I took the sleeve of my shirt and wiped it off. The book read Book of Gates. Hey, that's a very rare Egyptian book, what was it doing down here?
I have the feeling I'm meddling in something I shouldn't be meddling in. Oh well, it seems like it will be worth the trouble.
I wait by the way I came in for probably five minutes before I find a way to exit. I still hear voices at the end of the tunnel but I decide I should probably head back. If Fabian and Eddie return before me they'll suspect something.
I tuck the Book of Gates under my arm and head back up the stairs and into the small library. I shut the couch cushion and turn around. I hear the shelf begin to move. Crap, who's coming now?
I look around the room quickly trying to find a hiding place. I see a desk so I climb underneath it and pull the chair back under it too to hide me even better.
I try and slow my breathing. The shelf slides open and someone steps in. It was Victor. What the heck was he doing down here? Was everyone in on this mystery thing? Were they working together?
"Imbecile children. If it weren't for them I'd already be immortal by now. But no Nina Martin decides to go all chosen one on the ankh cup and then Rufus destroys it." Victor growls. Okay so maybe Victor wasn't working on their side.
He heads over to a bookshelf that was in the corner of the room. Was he looking up some ingredients or something? Did he know about the tunnel underneath the couch? He pulls on a book and the bookcase turns and he does too. It was a revolving bookcase! This place just gets better and better. Once he's gone I exit the library and head back upstairs. I need to hide this book somewhere quickly. I didn't want to be accused of stealing it later on, but I really wanted to read it.

A/N: So I know I said that Aidan (previously known as Lucas(I changed his name)) wasn't going to be in the story but I changed my mind. He is going to be in the story! :)
