The next few days Harry and I tried avoiding Lockhart and Colin Creevy. (an annoying first year who was obsessed with Harry and I.) Today was the first Quidditch practice, and though they were usually later in the day, Oliver decided to wake everyone up at the crack of dawn. Angelina had barged into our room and woke up Cathy and I. Cathy had tried out as a chaser because Katie decided that she was going to quit for the season. Cathy, Harry, and I had walked down to the field together, rubbing sleep out of our eyes.
We made it down to the changing room with only Colin giving us a problem. He followed us down to the field, asking questions and asking Harry and I to sign things. We managed to shake him off when we entered the changing rooms, though all he did was go to the stands. Harry and I sat down in the back while Cathy went to sit by Fred. I yawned, listening to Oliver give some big speech. I laid my head on Harry's shoulder and he wrapped an arm around my waist.
But of course, as soon as I was about to fall asleep Oliver decided, 'Okay now that I've given people that I woke up at the crack of dawn a huge speech, I'm gonna make them get up and do something.' Then he made us go outside and we all started practicing. I woke up instantly as the cool morning air hit my face. "Wohoooo!!!!" I yelled, doing some loops in the air. Fred and George both laughed, making laps around me.
"Having fun there Black?" George yelled.
"Yep!" I yelled, straitening up and flying off. Cathy and Angelina were down the field, passing the Quaffle back and forth. I smirked, flying towards them at full speed and stealing the Quaffle from Cathy.
"Hey!" She yelled, flying after me with Angelina on her tail. I laughed, throwing the ball into the goal, past Oliver.
"Always be ready." I told Cathy, flying off. I stopped next to Harry who was looking around for the snitch. "Hey Harry." I said.
"Hello, love." He said, but looked up suddenly annoyed.
"What?" I asked, confused.
"Colin." Harry grumbled.
"That's who's in the stands?" Fred asked, flying up to us.
"Yep." I said, rolling my eyes.
"I don't like him, he could be a Slytherin spy." Oliver told us, flying up to us as well.
"He's Gryffindor!" Harry, Cathy, and I said surprised. He must have seen him in the common room at some point, right?
"Besides, the Slytherins wouldn't need a spy-"
"Seeing as they're already here." Fred and George said, doing that weird twin thing they do.
"What!!??" Oliver shouted, turning around on his broom rather harshly and flying full speed towards the ground. We all flew after him, landing behind him. "Flint!" Wood yelled, marching forward. "What are you doing here? I booked the pitch!" Wood practically shouted at the Slytherin team captain.
"Ah, but you see Wood, I have a note from Professor Snape." Flint answered smugly, smirking in our direction while holding out a rolled up piece of parchment. Wood snatched it from his hand, opening it up.
"'I, Professor S. Snape, give the Slytherin team permission to practice today on the Quidditch field owing to the need to train their new seeker.' You've got a new seeker? Who?" Wood asked. The Slytherins smirked, moving aside. There, standing with a smirk was Malfoy.
"Malfoy?" Harry, Cathy, and I snickered.
"That's right Potter, Blacks. In fact, I'm not the only thing that's new this year." Malfoy said, and made it quite obvious as to what he was talking about. There, gleaming in the sun light was a newly bought Nimbus 2001. Okay, so, they look cool and all but I'm fine with my nimbus.
"Oh look, a field invasion." Flint drawled. Mione and Ron had come marching across the field from their place in the stands. They had gotten here recently.
"What's going on? Why's Malfoy here?" Ron asked, standing beside Harry.
"You're looking at the new Slytherin seeker, Weasly." Malfoy boasted, smirking. "Everyone was just admiring the new brooms my father had gotten myself and the team." Ron stared, open mouthed.
"Well at least no one on the Gryffindor team had to buy there way in," Mione snapped, glaring at Malfoy, "they all got in on pure talent." Malfoys smirk faded and he glared at Mione, looking disgusted.
"No one asked for your opinion, you filthy little Mudblood." Malfoy spat. Everyone gasped, making Harry look confused. Cathy and I started marching forward but Ron beat us to it. He pulled out his wand pointing it at Malfoys face.
"You'll pay for that one Malfoy! Eat slugs!" Ron yelled, a great bang echoed around the stadium and a jet of green light shot out from the wrong end of Ron's wand, hitting him in the stomach and sending him flying back.
"Ron!" Mione screeched, running to help him with Harry. Cathy and I turned to Malfoy, our hair had turned red and caught on fire.
"You lot go ahead, Cathy and I have some family bonding to do with our cousin." We heard the others go off, probably to Hagrids. Cathy and I took out our wands, pointing them at Malfoy's face. His eyes widened, before turning and trying to run away. "Petrifcus totalus!" I shouted, making him fall to the ground. "How dare you Malfoy!" I shrieked, watching his eyes turn fearful.
"Pertundo!" Cathy yelled. Malfoy's face contorted in pain.
"What spell was that?" I asked, confused.
"Spell I made at the orphanage, it's supposed to make you feel like you've been punched." Cathy shrugged, smirking. The Gryffindors cheered, but suddenly went quite. I looked up and saw Minnie making her way here. I quickly did the counter spell, then grabbed Malfoy by the front of his robes.
"That was horrid Malfoy! Absolutely vial! How could you!" I yelled, putting my wand away while Cathy did the same.
"Ms. Black!? What is going on here!?" Minnie asked, marching towards us.
"Oh Professor! You should have heard him it was horrible!" I wailed.
"And what, Ms. Black, was so horrible that you had to grab Mr. Malfoy by the front of his robes?" Minnie asked, raising an eyebrow.
"He, he, um," I stuttered, making it seem like I was scared.
"Well?" She asked.
"He called Hermione a, a um, a Mudblood." I whispered. Minnie gasped, her eyes turning angry. She turned to Malfoy who was practically shaking, grabbed his ear and pulled him up to the castle. The Slytherins slouched, walking off the field in defeat while the Gryffindors cheered. I laughed, and pulled Cathy to Hagrids.
