Book 2: Chapter 32 Part 2

I watched as Harry paused, looking between Riddle, Fawkes, the sorting hat, and Ginny. Finally he spoke.

"No one knows why you lost your powers when you attacked Rose and I," Harry said suddenly. "I don't know myself. But I know why you couldn't kill Rose or me. Because our mothers died to save us. Rose with her half blood mother, and me. My common Muggle-born mother. She stopped you killing me. And I've seen the real you, I saw you last year. You're a wreck. You're barely alive. That's where all your power got you. You're in hiding. You're ugly, you're foul-"

Riddle's face contorted into an awful and forced smile. "So. Your mothers died to save you both. Yes, that's a powerful counter charm. I can see now...there is nothing special about either of you, after all. Besides Rose's powers you are both just...ordinary. I wondered, you see. Because there are strange likenesses between us all. Even you must have noticed. All three half-bloods. The two of us orphans, all of us raised by Muggles. Probably the only three Parselmouths to come to Hogwarts since the great Slytherin himself. You and I even look something alike...But after all, it was merely a lucky chance that saved the both of you from me. That's all I wanted to know."

Trying the refrain from running to Harry, I waited for Riddle to raise the wand. But Riddle's smile only widened. "Now, Harry, I'm going to teach you a little lesson. Let's match the powers of Lord Voldemort, Heir of Salazar Slytherin, against famous Harry Potter, and the best weapons Dumbledore can give him."

Riddle cast an amused glance at Fawkes and the sorting hat before walking away. Tensing slightly, I watched as Riddle stop between the high pillars and look up into the stone face if Slytherin, high above him in half darkness. Riddle opened his mouth and hissed - but I understood what he was saying perfectly.

"Speak to me, Slytherin, greatest fear of the Hogwarts Four." Suddenly the mouth of the statue opened, and I was able to make out something moving in the darkness. I watched as Harry backed away into one of the walls, and Fawkes, who had moved to Harry's shoulder at some point, flew off. I heard a sudden hiss as the ground shuddered underneath a large weight.

"Kill him."
 
I saw the Basilisk start towards Harry, but quickly closed my eyes. No way was I gonna get killed by something as stupid as looking a Basilisk on the eye! I heard sudden screeching, and opened my eyes the tiniest bit to see the giant beast swinging his head back and forth like a maniac. He was trying to catch Fawkes! Grinning slightly, I saw Fawkes dive and seconds later blood splattered on the floor.

It's eyes! Fawkes you genius! "NO!" I heard Riddle scream. "LEAVE THE BIRD! LEAVE THE BIRD! THE BOY IS BEHIND YOU! YOU CAN STILL SMELL HIM! KILL HIM!"

Deciding now was the best chance, I ran from my place as Harry stood and started running down the narrow path way, disappearing around a corner. The Basilisk followed. I ran towards Ginny and kneeled beside her. "Gin? Ginny?" I whispered, pushing some hair off her forehead.

"Well, well, well. Rose, what a delightful surprise." Riddle said from behind me. Cursing, I turned around, but not fast enough. A sudden green light flew at me, and before I knew it all I saw was white.

*Somewhere*

I opened my eyes slowly, glancing around the room. It looked like...the drawing room at Dad's? Standing, I heard weird noises coming from the fireplace. I walked over cautiously only to see...a weird baby thing?

"I wouldn't worry about it." A soft voice said from behind me. Turning I saw an older version of myself. The women had long, curly brown hair, kind blue eyes, pale skin and a purple sweater and blue jeans. I would recognize that women anywhere.
