"Um, Mione why are we going in here?" I asked, following her warily.
"Gilderoy Lockhart of course! He's signing books today!" Mione squealed, walking faster. Eww, I have to see that idiot? Kill me now...
"Mioneeeeee, I don't wanna..." I whined, trying to get out of her grasp.
"Oh don't be silly Rose! Look, there's everybody!" Mione said, continuing to pull me through the crowd. I groaned, but followed. Why do I even try to argue with her?
"Oh for heavens sakes, there you two are! Come, come!" Mrs. Weasley said, patting off the access dust from the fireplace when we reached her. As soon as she was finished Mrs. Weasley turned around, patting her hair, with a red face.
"Mums been like this all morning. Reckon it's cause of Lockhart." Fred and George said, using us as arm rests.
"No doubt, I heard her tell Hermione and Ginny that Lockhart was some type of hero.." Ron shuddered.
"I'm just glad we can all see what a liar this guy is!" Cathy said, appearing beside me.
"Bloody hell Cathy! We're did you come from!" I said, jumping back.
Ron smirked at Harry, and was about to open his mouth when glared at him. He shut his mouth tight, backing up slightly. "I was getting planking supplies! I snuck away while Molly wasn't working.." Cathy snickered, opening her bag to show me all the filbusters fireworks, and dung bombs she'd bought.
"Nice!" I said, high fiving her.
"Shhhh!" Snapped some older women in the front. "He's here!" There was a sudden loudness that filled the room. I looked over the people's heads to see a man in violet robes, with curly blonde hair and a really white smile.
"Hello everyone! Welcome to my book signing!" Lockhart said, smiling.
"Move out of the way! Daily Profit coming through!" Some old guy said, pushing me to the side.
"Hey watch it buddy!" I growled, rubbing my side were he elbowed me. Lockhart looked up when I said that, and his jaw dropped.
"Harry Potter and Rose Black!" Lockhart yelped. The reporter turned around, grabbing both of our arms.
"Get up there you two!" The reporter said, pushing us up there.
"Smile Harry and Rose, together we could make the front page!" Lockhart said, smiling at the camera. I just buried my face into Harry's shoulder, trying to block out everything. Finally the guy shot the photo and I took my face away from Harrys shoulder. "Ladies and gentlemen, when young Harry and Rose walked into this shop, intending on buying my books they had no idea they would be leaving with their very own set free of charge!" Lockhart said. His assistant came up and gave us our books while the crowd cheered. "And not only that, but they will be getting the original magical me! Yes that's right, this September I will be taking the role of defense against the dark arts Professor at Hogwarts!" Lockhart announced. I internally groaned, and when he was finished with us I hurried off the stage.
"Here, we'll get our own." Harry and I said to Ron and Ginny. I forgot to mention Ginny, didn't I? All I'm gonna say is that she isn't the happiest about my crush on Harry. But she told me she'd try and get over him.
"Thanks." They said, helping us put the books in their couldrons.
"Don't worry about it. Come on, let's get out of here." I mumbled. Everyone nodded, Mione a little less enthusiastically, and we turned around, almost leaving the shop until...
"Bet you liked that didn't you? Famous Potter and Black, can't even go into a book shop without making the front page." Malfoy's voice drifted down the small flight of stairs that led to an upper part of the store.
"Leave him alone!" Ginny snapped, stepping in front of Harry.
"Oh look Potter, got yourself a girlfriend?" Malfoy laughed. "So weres Rose's protector?" Malfoy snickered.
"Shove off Malfoy." Harry growled, stepping forward.
"Now, now, Draco." A cold voice said. We all looked away from Malfoy to see his father. "Ah, Potter, and Black! How nice to meet you! May I?" He questioned. I was about to ask what but instead he grabbed Harry and I and examined our scars. "These scars are legendary of course...almost as legendary as the wizard who gave them to you..." Malfoy senior drawled.
"Voldemort was nothing but a murderer." Harry and I snapped, pulling away from Malfoy seniors grasp.
"How brave of you to speak his name." Malfoy senior said, glaring.
"Fear of the name only increases fear of the thing itself." Mione spoke up.
"Ah, Miss. Granger? Yes, Draco's told me all about you and your, parents." He sneered. "Muggles, are they?" Malfoy senior said, disgusted. Cathy and I stepped in front of Mione protectively, our hair turning red. "Ah, yes Cathryn my dear, dear cousin! Tell me, what does it feel like being a part of society again?" Lucious said.
"Kids, there you are! What're you doi-" Arthur stopped, staring at Malfoy senior. "Lucius." Arthur said costly, his voice going void of any emotion.
"Arthur Weasley! I've noticed the ministry have had you working over time. Hopefully they've been paying you more, but judging by the state of these," he paused, picking up Ginny's transfiguration book from her cauldron, "obviously not." Lucius said. "And honestly Arthur the company you keep! And I thought your family could sink no lower..." Lucius trailed. Cathy and I had our wands out in a flash pointed at Lucious.
"Take that back." I snapped. He stayed quite. "I said, Take. That. Back!" I yelled, my hair catching on fire.
"Take it back cousin." Cathy growled, her hair catching fire as well.
"I-I take it back." Lucius stuttered, hurriedly gathering up Malfoy and leaving.
"That was amazing!" Ron cheered. Cathy and I laughed, giving everyone a hug.
