The very next day, Alice was in my room bright and early. An interesting smell came from downstairs, like someone was trying to cook. There was laughing downstairs, that confirmed my suspicion. Alice watched me wake up for a few minutes before grinning like mischievously.

"Good morning," Alice chirped. "You sleep a lot, Edythe."

"Not usually," I said, my voice sounding weird since I just woke up. "Sometimes on weekends."

"Rosalie and Emmett are trying to make pancakes." She said, the smirk reappearing. "Can you tell?"

"It smells like when my dad tries to cook." I wrinkled my nose disgust as a fresh wave of burnt batter wafted up the stairs. More laughing came from downstairs.

"Mmmhmm, I bet," Alice said thoughtfully. "It's a good thing Esme isn't here, she'd have a heart failure...again."

I got up, staggering a little, I haven't stood up since they found me in the forest five days ago. Someone had changed me into pajama shorts and comfortable t-shirt. I still had a hair tie around my wrist so I piled my hair on top of my head into a messy bun. Alice watched me like she was trying to learn-which she probably was-my morning routine.

"Carlisle said you could come with us to the mall if Rose and I go with you-obviously-but he wants Edward there too." Alice frowned like the fact that Edward would be there too would ruin her entire day. "So the boys and us girls are all going to the mall but they'll do their own thing and check up on you every hour or so."

"Okay," I said. Then I frowned. "I don't have my money!" I pursed my lips in aggravation; I guess I'll have to get a job soon. More of Edward's laughter could be heard from downstairs.

"Edythe!" Alice exclaimed. "You're family! We have money and it's yours, too. We have so much that I couldn't spend it all if I tried!" Alice sighed like that fact brought her down. Then she brightened. "But it you feel so bad; I have a proposal for you."

"Oh, yeah?" I didn't like the sound of that.

"Yes; you have to let me get you ready everyday and we'll be even!" Alice said proudly, like she didn't know I'd agree. Pfft.

"Fine but if there's nothing going on, I get to dress myself...okay?" I said hesitantly. I liked my sweatpants and leggings on the weekends.

"Deal!" Alice said, taking my hand and leading me downstairs. "I'll give you a tour later, right now, let's go watch Emmett and Rose!"

It was quite a sight to see; there was smoke beginning to rise, batter was everywhere; there were eggshells in a bowl, flour covered everything and all I could think of was oh God. Poor Esme, her kitchen! That sent Edward into another round of obnoxious laughing.

Rosalie was covered in egg yolk and four. Emmett was no better. Both of them wore similar expressions; their noses scrunched up and they held their breath. It didn't smell good to me, how bad does it smell them?

I weaved between them, turning off the stove and grabbing a mitten to take the pot off the stove; the batter inside was boiling and I couldn't help but laugh while I tried not to gag. Jasper, Alice and Edward were still laughing. Rose and Emmett were glaring at them and I imagined that if they could, their faces would be bright red.

"A pot, Emmett!" Rosalie sighed. "You put it in a pot."

"Why does it matter?" Emmett asked. "Why does it matter if I use a pot instead of a pan?" Rosalie dragged her hand over her face, groaning. I leaned against the counter and stifled a laugh, Rose and Emmett seemed to notice me for the first time. "Hey, Edy!"

"Hey, Emmy." I smirked. "What-cha' doing?"

"Making pancakes." Emmett said casually, like the entire kitchen wasn't a mess.

"You do know that in the name, it says to use a pan, right?" I grin.

"Well now I know!" Emmett said dramatically.

Rosalie groaned again, looking at Emmett. "Oh my God, I'm married to you!"

"We don't have to eat! We don't have to cook!" Emmett said defensively. "I don't know how to cook!"

"I do!" Rosalie said, exasperated. "Why'd you insist on helping?"

"I wanted to learn!"

"Oh my God," Rosalie said again. She looked around at the mess. "Esme is going to kill us."

"You guys are lucky that my dad did the same thing last month," I said. "And even luckier that I know how to clean up pancake batter."

We got out the cleaning supplies and within an hour, the kitchen was sparkling clean. I had to say I was jealous; it took me three days to get everything cleaned at home. Stupid vampires. I grumbled in my head, Edward snickered.
