Turns out, Carlisle was home before us. Edward had texted him and Esme, letting them know the vague outline of it all. Esme was really trying to like Bella but the way Alice and Edward were explaining things, I was finding it hard not to hate her more than I already do. Rose was adding a thing here or there but for the most part, I just sat back with Emmett and Jasper, trying to become invisible.

"So how are we going to handle this?" Rose asked, three hours into the argument.

"Is there anything to handle?" Carlisle asked. "We just stay out of the way, making adjustments to things as needed to keep Bella oblivious and keep inconspicuous. Edythe?" I looked up to him, this was the first time I've been addressed. "When did you say that the car accident was?"

"Um," I thought back to when it was. "If she comes into town next Monday then the Tuesday after that should be the day Tyler Crowley almost hits her with his van."

"So we park there." Emmett said.

"It never said where she parked." I said. "So I don't know." I glanced at Alice, hoping she would see something.

"We could cut the power," Jasper said. "No school, no accident; no problem."

"Or we could slash Bella's tires." Emmett suggested. "No car, no problem. Her dad would have to drop her off, right?"

"I like the cut the power plan," Esme said, frowning because she didn't like the way Edward and Alice were talking about Bella. "It puts everyone out of harm's way."

"I agree," Carlisle said. "Two weeks from tomorrow, we'll cut the school's power. That was the beginning of the problem, correct?"

"That and Port Angeles," Edward sighed. "What are we going to do about that?"

"Give the police an anonymous tip about those guys?" I suggested.

"I could go and take care of them," Rosalie growled. She didn't like the situation Bella would be in the most.

"Carlisle should go," Edward said. I was glad I remembered that random fact that Lily told me on Friday. She had read Midnight Sun, I hadn't but I was glad she told me that in the books, Carlisle was the one to go after them in the end, anyway.

Carlisle nodded, "I agree. I'll go next weekend." He gave me a sideways glance and stopped the explanation of his plan there.

"You sure I can't go?" Rose grumbled.

"I don't think that would be the best idea, Rose," Esme said softly.

Rose 'harrumphed' and crossed her arms over her chest. Emmett put his arms around her shoulders and tried to get her to relax. I was racing my brain for anything I could remember about Lily's constant droning about Twilight and see if it could do me any good here.

"Edythe?" Edward said, still standing in the middle of the living room with Alice. "Your friend read the first book in my point of view, correct?"

"Yes, but I didn't," I said, still trying to remember. "Kind of wishing I have now."

"I wouldn't have," Edward scoffed. "I was just wondering if there's anything Lily said that stood out to you."

"No," I said after scanning my brain again. "Not really. I mean, I did try to tune her out but..."

"I would have tuned her out as well," Alice promised.

"We won't be able to protect her from everything without getting her too involved." Jasper said, his voice slightly harder.

"The wolves can share the job." Edward said coolly. He looked at me and said "Bella's childhood friend was Jacob Black right?" I nodded. "She'll be spending more time with him, I'm guessing, if I'm not around her."

"Probably," I agreed.

"Edward," Carlisle said. "You do know that if you do feel any kind of connection, tell us. We can think of another plan for this."

"Trust me," Edward said. "There won't be a 'connection'."

A/N: Guys, I need to know if you think that Edward and Edythe should being in a romantic relationship by the end of this book. Around chapter 40, I won't be able to update until I know so I can alter accordingly.  Thanks!
