Alice picked out a black, panelled skater-skirt dress, a black, long-sleeved, loose-knit cardigan and black suede wingtip detailed wedges with bows. Rosalie straightened my hair and on my left side, gave me a loose braid to pull back my hair. I liked it, it went well with my necklace-like everything did.

I, like everyday, had a smoothie and Edward was rushing us all out the door before I was even done. "FINISH IT IN THE CAR!" He was yelling as he started the engine. Esme rolled her eyes and Edward waited a full seven minutes before running back into the kitchen to pick me up and carrying me to the car. I was lucky to have finished my smoothie.

"Bye Esme!" I called to her from downstairs as Edward carried me out into the garage because I wasn't fast enough.

"Have a good day, everyone!" Esme called back.

"You're lucky I brought your book," Alice said as she handed me my backpack and the two books I've been reading. "We're going to be an hour early."

"Great, thanks," I said, buckling up as the tires squealed. Edward turned the wrong way and I guessed he was going the long way which still only took fifteen minutes. "Seriously, Edward, what's the rush?"

"I want to get to school early."

"She'll be there fifteen minutes early, not an hour!"

"Yeah, man," Emmett whined. "You already established that you don't like her, why are we going early?"

"Because in the books it said we got there after her," Edward rolled his almost-black eyes.

"You're trying to change it more than we already had?" Rose growled in annoyance.

"Yes, I am trying to change as much of it as I can." Edward said in a menacing tone back.

"Look, Eddie, Edy's here; it's changed enough!" Emmett whined, from his seat in the back.

"If it can be changed, it will." Edward growled. I knew it was the lack of blood getting to them, but wow; talk about growing boys needing more food. "Haha, Edythe. Very funny." Edward said dryly.

"I think I am," I shrugged. He gave me a hard glare in the mirror and I immediately thought if looks could kill just to spite him. His look softened and he looked back to the road, ignoring everyone.

"Edythe, you're sitting in between Bella and Edward." Alice reminded, like I could forget.

"I know," I nodded. I glanced at Edward. "Don't close the vent." He just rolled his eyes.

"Edward, really," Alice sighed. "If something happens, I'll text Carlisle and get you and Edythe out, okay?"

"Nothing's going to happen," Edward hissed, turning his glare to Alice who was sitting in the passenger seat.

"Edward," Jasper growled in a warning tone, tensing in his seat beside me. I could see out of the corner of my eye that Emmett was moving up, his arm hovering between Edward and I. Even Alice was tensed and turned in her seat.

Edward sighed and rolled his eyes. "I'm sorry. I'm fine, okay? I'm fine." He glanced at me from the rear view mirror before looking back to Alice. "I'm sorry," he said again.

"It's fine," Alice said, but her usual enthusiasm wasn't as light as it usually was. "It's just a precaution."

"I know," Edward grumbled. I realized then that he didn't like to be thought of as needing an escape route. Just like guy ever.

Edward drove around a few more times before pulling into the parking lot. Five minutes later after we were parked, we heard the roar of an engine that was described to me several times throughout the course of four books. Bella's truck.
