"3...2...1!" Carlisle poked my skin with the needle. I tired to keep myself relaxed and was succeeding so far. I couldn't look when my blood rushed up the tube, though; it made it hurt slightly more. "Thank you, Edythe," Carlisle said again. He tapped on some gauze and smiled "All done."
"No problem," I said, letting my arm drop into my lap. Edward was waiting in the doorway of Carlisle's study, looking completely at ease. I got out of my seat as Carlisle went to study the sample he acquired. I slipped past Edward to go to my room; he followed.
It wasn't until after I had reviewed for the English test I had on Thursday did I look up at him sitting at my desk, watching me smugly. "Is there something I can help you with?" I asked, packing up my backpack.
"You seemed to have forgotten what was to come today." He replied cryptically.
"Oh," I said, thinking back to what he might of meant. "We have a necklace for you but you'll have to wait until Monday to see it." Rose had said. "No, I don't think I forgot anything."
"If you haven't forgot, then come on," Edward rolled his eyes and stood up, walking out of my room. I mentally groaned and followed him, wondering if Alice would let me wear sweat pants around the house or not.
"Hurry up, Edy!" Alice sang. "You'll love it!" Of course, Alice was right; I did love it! It was a small locket with Esme and Carlisle taking up one side and Rose, Emmett, Jasper, Alice and Edward on the other. Alice was really proud that she'd put it all together so I could wear it in water, too. The chain was dainty and silver, it didn't hang low but it wasn't tight, either. It rested just perfectly a few millimeters beneath my collarbone.
It really was perfect.
Esme, after that, had persisted that I went to bed early (although I hardly thought 10:30pm was early) and I agreed. I never stayed up this late usually on school nights (and hardly ever on weekends) so after thanking everyone once again for the locket, Alice went upstairs with me.
"You know that I can get ready for bed by myself." I said, smiling a little. She was taking the whole 'big sister' thing very seriously.
"I know," was her reply as she practically shoved me in the bathroom.
After washing my face, putting my hair up more securely, brushing my teeth, and doing everything else I needed to do, Alice handed me my pajamas. They were just leggings and a t-shirt, something I'd usually wear to school, but I doubted Alice would let me out of the house with them on.

The rest of the week went on smoothly; I aced my English test (Jasper helped me study although I didn't need the help), Rosalie and Alice got me ready every morning (just as they promised they would) and seemed to have fun with it. By the time the weekend rolled around, we were almost in a routine even though I've only been in school for a week. I liked it though, I hardly enjoyed change.
I noticed things at lunch, too, like how Alice always causally moved Jasper or I to sit next to each other. Or how Edward would kick Jasper's chair. I certainly didn't miss how they spoke so low that their lips hardly moved; I didn't talk at all, if it was important, Edward filled me in while we were in Biology. I noticed how Jasper seemed to either not breathe or lean in closer to me and take a deep breath. I also noticed that no one's eyes were incredibly dark and neither were they very bright like they were last weekend.
Edward brought up a few things that I noticed when in Biology; he briefly explained that Jasper felt calmer around me because of my unappealing scent, that they usually just made snide comments and what Emmett said was hardly appropriate for anyone, that they all liked to hunt together every few weekends or so. But it was never explained in depth.
Carlisle had worked that weekend, Esme and I cooked-I mostly taught her simple recipes that didn't involve tasting to know if you got it right or not. I spent a lot of time that weekend reading and watching the chess matches that went on. Alice and Edward were the best to watch and usually ended up with Alice giving up and calling Edward a cheater.
Sunday night, Carlisle came home early and went over the plan for Monday once more. He asked a few more questions and asked for the few hints I could give him but over all, it was Edward who would be making the ultimate decision for if we 'go by the books' or 'write our own story'.
I wasn't sure which one I was voting for.
