Alice met us outside for our third run to the car to drop off bags. She had six pink striped bags and looked very smug. She had better not have bought any push-up bras. I heard a laugh come from behind Rose and I. I didn't have to turn around to know that it was Edward coming to 'check up' on me.
"Success?" Rose asked Alice as they put it in the covered bed of the truck.
Alice nodded before asking "You?" Rosalie nodded and put the makeup in the front seat.
"I take it shopping has been going has been going good." Edward said to Alice and Rosalie before kneeling in front of me to study my face and check my temperature.
"We're not done," Alice shrugged. "But so far it's good. What about the boys?"
"Emmett's had to drive home twice already. Jasper's putting together a few things and will meet us in an hour." Edward said casually, "Edythe's fine," before standing up. "Where are you going from here?"
"Shoes," Alice said excitedly. "Then we'll head over and get her some bags... then school supplies. We might go back to get her some more jeans and shirts."
"After Emmett get's back, we'll meet you at the food court and then we're going to head home to get started." Edward said.
"Perfect!" With that, Alice, Rose and I headed back to the mall. Alice was going on and on about the possibilities for my first day of school. Most of the options consisted of Edward and Emmett going after a boy named Mike Newton (I never liked him) for asking me on a date. "Just ignore him," Alice advised. "Then there's a 60% chance that he'll leave you alone."
"I will," I said.
Rose was leading us to the Gap. Alice let her pick out the clothes, remined her of sizes and approved or disapproved. Then Alice dashed out of the store and came back fifteen minutes later with a plastic bag. She seemed really proud of herself.
"I just put together the most perfect outfit for your first day of school." Alice said.
Soon we were heading to Bed, Bath and Beyond. Alice didn't like it but went in until her face lit up and she was practically running to a different store. Rose shrugged and let me pick out a few bathroom essentials like a blow dryer, curler, straightener and some towels. Rose went to a different part of the store while I looked at a lap desk (is was $4). When we met up again she had six King-sized blankets. A few were dark grey, a few were dark green and a few were dark purple.
Alice was just coming back from the car when we were heading to it. She and Rose switched off walking with me and Alice led me to the food court. After we'd sat down with my salad and water, Rosalie and the boys showed up.
"You're not going to get pizza or something?" Emmett asked. "You got a garden?"
"My breakfast was almost 500 calories," I said. "Lunch has to be healthy."
"You probably walked off a few thousand calories." Jasper said.
"Fine; malls don't have real food. They take rubber, slightly flavor it and mold it to look like food. It tastes like it, too." I said taking a bite of vaguely flavored salad.
"So it tastes like it smells?" Emmett said. "Isn't that illegal, or something?"
"People are lazy." I said simply.
"I thought you said lunch has to healthy," Edward said, leaning back in his chair.
"It's the thought that counts." I said. "Besides, water is water. You can't fake that."
"You're a strange little person," Jasper decided.
"Why, thank you, sir." I said, grinning cheekily.
