Edward, who was tense moments before, relaxed. His cocky grin stretched onto his face and it gave his eyes a comically-evil look to them. "I can hear her thoughts," he told everyone. We-other than Bella who wouldn't be able to hear us from across the lot and through the noise of her truck-nodded. I had hunch that that would be the case, but I couldn't have been sure until today.

"What's she thinking?" Emmett wondered.

"Her thoughts are about as boring as other human girls-not including you, Edythe." Edward added quickly. I could care less if he thought my mind was average; I know it's not. "Vain, boring and very vague. Turns out, her mother sent her here; she didn't exile herself at all."

Rose rolled her eyes and twisted her hair around her finger. "Another boring human. Great. At least you won't be drawn to her."

Edward's face twisted with disgust. "I wouldn't like her anyway-"

I stopped him before he could go on another rant. "Yes, she's obsessive and expressionless. We know." My tone was bored, like we needed to come up with a new topic; which we did. Edward was glaring at me again except this time it made me feel bad. I could feel a knot twist in my chest and I dropped my gaze to the wet ground, not bothering to open my book as I usually did.

I hate being a fifteen year old girl with a 104 year old hormonal adoptive brother, who is stuck at 17 forever, and trying to stay away from an expressionless girl who-in a book I read-became his soul mate. Really, what has the world come to? How is this a fair life to live?

It took me a second to realize that Edward heard all of that and that is the reason why he is now laughing so hard that I think he might actually throw up. Everyone else was looking at Edward like he was insane and even Bella Swan had stopped in her now-silent car to look at us.

"Oh, shut up," I grumbled, fighting back a smile. "Thoughts are private."

It took Edward three minutes to calm down. After which he said "Not to me they aren't." He grinned "Really? A 104 year old hormonal adoptive brother who is stuck at 17 forever? That's what you think of me as?"

Emmett and Jasper burst out laughing almost as bad as Edward was. Alice and Rose were more stuble as their shoulders shook and hid their smiles behind their hands.

"More or less," I smirked with a childish smile. "It's true though!"

"What are we going to do with you?" Alice said like she was a scolding mother

"No idea, but I like to think that I made an impact on your boring existance," I sighed dramatically, picking up on their need for an existence rather than a life. Rose grinned. "It looks like I'm succeeding."

"Yeah, I don't know what we'd do without you, Edy," Emmett teased. Alice giggled and nodded at Edward, probably catching an inside joke or an idea.

The rest of the time before school started was spent slightly goofing off and making snide remarks about Edward's choice in girls. Edward had to glare at less boys today-most likely because of Bella's arrival and the fact that I was no longer the hot topic at school now. On my way to Varner's room, I bumped into someone, whose eyes were glued to the map in her hands.

"Sorry," I said, not realizing who it was at first.

"It's my fault, I'm sorry." She said, her eyes were (unlike the books) a pale, innocent blue like Renee was described to have. "I'm Bella."

"Edythe," I said, trying to slip away; the plan was to avoid her at all costs.

"Nice to meet you Edith," the way she said my name was enough proof to tell me she thought it was spelled E-D-I-T-H. "You wouldn't happen to be able to point me to Jefferson's class, would you?"

"Uh..." I trailed off, looking for a particular slick-haired, acne-covered, boyish Asian. Bingo, he was standing three steps behind Bella. "Eric!" I said loudly, I introduced Bella and Eric, Eric gave me an appreciative smile. "Hey, could you show Bella to Government? I'd show her myself, but I'm not heading that way." Lie; I was going to Building 5, Bella was going to Building 6 and Eric's first class was in Building 4.

"Sure thing, Edythe," Eric smiled, nodding to Bella. She nodded timidly and followed Eric to building 4 like a lost puppy.

I got a text (from a spare phone they kept around the house) from Alice; Sorry, it had to happen for her to leave us all alone-I'm sorry I didn't tell you!~Alice. I made my way the long way around to Building 5 and replied with, It's fine, no worries; I hope I did the right thing. Alice replied with It was perfect! I was almost late to my first block but it was worth it.
