"HAPPY FIRST DAY OF TENTH GRADE!" Alice yelled, causing me to fall out of bed with a loud oomph. "Oh, Edy! Are you okay?"
"I'm fine," I groaned, peeling myself off of the floor. "That was totally not cool, though, Alice."
"Not cool," Alice agreed, skipping over to my closet, "Hilarious."
Off the shoulder, frumpy, gray v-neck sweater, light blue, ripped, skinny jeans, converse that went up my calf and my usual Cullen crest necklace - that's what Alice had laid out for me.
"Thank you!" I called as I blow dried my own hair and did my makeup as I wanted to. I did pale eyeshadow with a bit of sparkle, a very thin line of eyeliner and mascara. Alice pushed me back in after I walked out of my bathroom to put on some blush and lipgloss.
"Okay, smoothie, book, backpack," I muttered to myself.
"Stop talking to yourself," Edward said, steering me to the garage. "You're fine. We have everything. It's only school."
"Have a good first day!" Esme called.
I was still going off of my mental checklist, still talking to myself as we marched out of the house, I slid into the backseat and as were were on the way to school which was just off the highway.
"Relax," Alice rolled her eyes, turning to face me as Edward was going over ninety. "It's just school."
"School where there are now less vampires but still one more imprintee." I said, finally breaking my own trance. "I'm going to go out on a limb here and predict that the wolves are going to start hanging around Forks more. School is one of the places I think is going to get a little crowded."
"Yes, and Carlisle is trying to get a hold of Billy Black to explain." Edward said, almost broodingly. "Oh, haha, Edy, very funny."
"What?" Alice asked, looking between the two of us.
"I was just mentally commenting how Edward is a natural brooder." I said nonchalantly. Alice giggled. "No, but seriously - what would Carlisle need to explain? I mean, the Treaty clearly makes Forks neutral ground but if they're here all the time now, how are we supposed to go to school and try and be normal and stuff." We. Not them.
"Can we please let our parental figures figure that out and act like normal teenagers?" Alice groaned.
"I second that!" Edward grinned, high-fiving Alice.
"You never high-fived anyone in the books." I smirked.
"I should probably stop brooding." Edward shrugged, pulling into the high school parking lot.
"I second that!" Alice and I chorused.

"Welcome to honors Chemistry!" Mr. Mason said. "Get to know your classmates."
"Do we do anything on the first day?" I muttered, turning to Alice.
"No," Alice shrugged. She sighed, staring into nothing.
"Missing Jaz?" I guessed, putting my chin on my hand.
"Yes!" Alice said, her gold eyes wide and doe-like. "Edy, I hate leaving him."
"I know," I said with a sympathetic smile. "He's coming back next week!"
Alice smiled out the window as wistful as I've ever seen her, "Oh, I know, Edy. But you don't get it." She lowered her voice, "Having a soulmate is something completely different. Even being in two different rooms is difficult. The whole world needs two people together - I'd say it's difficult, but it's not. Just a challenge."
I licked my lips and nodded, "It's sweet, though," I smiled. "The whole soulmate thing. It'd really sweet."
Alice laughed, "For lack of better words, yeah - it's sweet."
