Gotta Get Out (a five seconds of summer story)

Chapter 11

I ring the doorbell feeling so stupid for coming over here. Luke opens the door and I practically engulf him in a hug. I don’t even know Luke that well, but I just needed a hug. I feel his arms tighten around me and I am relieved he doesn’t pull away. After a while I pull away and he takes a step back to look at me. “What in the world happened to you?” he asks noting my melted makeup and my not so pretty hair. I sigh and he leads me inside and into the basement. “Did you get struck by lightning on your way over here?” Michael asks when he sees me. I stick my tongue out at him and flop down on Luke’s sofa. “Rough day?” Calum asks. I begin to explain about my brother and how much I missed him and they all listened. I bet it is just PMS but still. “Do you want to hear the cover we have been working on? It might cheer you up.” Luke asks as Calum grabs his guitar. Michael grabs some sort of maraca thing and they begin the cover. I just sit there basking in the overwhelming amount of talent before me. “Did it help?” Calum asks once they finish. “You guys are fan-freaking-tastic!” I exclaim. “I know it’s a little rough, but I’m glad you like it” Luke says. “Hey how about you come over tomorrow to record us” Michael suggests. “Yeah sounds good to me” I say getting kind of excited. “Well I hate to leave just as soon as you get here Kaylee, but I have some homework and chores to do” Calum says making a face. “Yeah and I kind of have to pick up some things for my mom from the store so I have to leave now too.” Michael says giving me a sympathetic look. “Well I should probably head home too seeing that I look like I got struck by lightning” I say and they all laugh a little. We all say our goodbyes and head our separate ways.
