"Amelia!" Sapana walked over to where Amelia had reappeared in the shop. "How was your trip? You're back a bit early!" Her smile was dazzling. The romantically lit shop and the amazing women in front of her were such a rich contrast to bleeding in the sand, it made her feel dizzy and stunned.
"I-I don't k-know." Amelia felt the skin on her neck to see if she was still bleeding. She wasn't but Amelia could feel a long scar. "Sapana, something went wrong."
"How do you mean." Her glossy hair tossed off her shoulder.
Amelia got angry, "I mean, instead of peaceful beaches there was a giant fucking lizard!" She shouted. "Goddamit Sapana! Their still in there! Fred and George are still with that thing!" Amelia ran her fingers desperately trough her hair.
"I'll get them back." Sapana put a hand on her shoulder then went into the back room. Amelia could hear incantations, and she wiped the tears that were still on her face. The twins reappeared before her.
"Amelia!" They both exclaimed at the same time and Amelia laughed and cried. It was very confusing but all she knew was how grateful she was to see them. She embraced the boys and the three young people sat on the floor holding each other. George got up and started yelling at Sapana.
"I don't control the dreams!" She said quietly then turned to Amelia, "You shouldn't ignore this darling. It's an omen."
"Shut up." Amelia nearly punched the beautiful lady. They left without another word to Sapana. The twins escorted her to Honeydukes and Amelia had to hide behind a barrel of chocolate frogs when Cedric Diggory walked by.
Amelia walked down the secret passageway alone. She saw no lizards on her walk. The entire way down she whispered to herself, "aperire animo" The motto was strangely calming.
She was finally back at the castle and Amelia just went back to her dormitory. She curled up in bed and didn't speak to anyone. Not even Lavender when she came to tell her the Weasley twins were waiting for her down below.
The next week was jammed full of exams and Amelia was grateful she didn't have time to think about anything other than her studies especially not that stupid 'omen'. When the last of her exams were done, Amelia went out to the forbidden forest to relax. All the trees calmed her, she walked, brushing her fingers along the bark.
Amelia reached the clearing, deep in the forest, and lay down. She stared at the clouds, the sky would soon turn dark but she didn't care. She lay for hours, just staring into the distance, and when the stars came out, she slept. It was peaceful and the night whispered songs to her. The trees covered her like far away blankets and the animals protected her like soldiers. But then it changed.
Amelia woke to fire.
The fire wasn't around her but inside her. She felt the burn coursing through her, the root of the pain was at her neck, where the lizards tongue had kissed her. Amelia screamed, this was the same pain she had felt on the beach. The kind of pain she killed herself over.
Amelia couldn't see anything, she was blinded and writhing on the floor of the earth. Her shrieks filled the emptiness surrounding her but nothing came to help. She stopped screaming for a moment, bile rose within her and she vomited. Amelia tugged at the roots of her hair, as though she could pull the pain out.
But instead of pulling, Amelia decided to push. She shoved with all her might, until the fire within her left.
But fire doesn't just disappear. It had to go somewhere, and it so happens trees are rather flammable. The flames licked the bark and ravaged the leaves.
Amelia started to run, the fire parted to give her a path. She tripped twice over the large roots. But finally she found her way out. Amelia followed her feet, not thinking about where she was going. She ran up the fields to the castle, up staircases and down corridors.
She ended up on the third floor corridor, on the right hand side.
Amelia kept running until she found a door, which she yanked open and was face to face with a three headed dog. It snarled at her, it's lips curling back to reveal fangs. But Amelia silenced it with a look.
She went down the trap door underneath the beast, she passed the devils snare and the flying keys, she shattered the chess pieces and strode past the troll. Amelia walked through the black flames and into the mirror room.
Harry Potter lay in a corner, passed out, with a stone in his hand. But Amelia's attention was drawn to the other man. Professor Quirrel, her defence against the dark arts teacher. He was crying with his hands pressed against the back of his head.
"Professor?" She approached him.
"Get away!" A voice hissed, it came from the same place as Quirrel, but it wasn't him.
"Professor, are you alright?" Amelia had no idea what was going on, she could barely remember how she got there.
Quirrel whipped around, so the back of his head faced her. There was the burnt face of a man staring at her, with slits for nostrils and red eyes.
"Amelia Merlin, how pleased I am to meet you." His voice was frail, and Amelia could tell he was close to death.
"Who the fuck are you?" She demanded.
"Not very polite are you? A lady should treat people with more dignity."
"You think because I'm a girl I have to be nice? I will show you just how nice I really am." Amelia said darkly, narrowing her eyes at the stranger.
"That won't be necessary. I will be leaving soon." The face spoke carefully. "I just thought I would mention, Akkedis sends his regards."
Amelia felt the fire go out in the forest. She felt the flames return to her bloodstream at the face's words. As she crumbled in agony, Amelia saw the face with the red eyes blow away like dust in the wind. Then everything went dark and she fell into a world that only held pain.
She had no idea how much time passed. When Amelia woke, she was lying in the hospital wing. She sat up and her eyes darted around.
"Nice to see you awake." Harry was in the bed beside her. He looked kind of awful, very pale.
"What's going on?" Amelia's voice was dry and cracked when she spoke.
"Dumbledore says you saved my life."
"How did I manage that?" She almost smiled.
"Let me tell you."
And Harry began the story.
