"Remember to stay out of trouble! You want to make a good first impression!" Amelia's mother was fussing over her robes, picking minuscule bits of dust off the collar.
Amelia forced a small laugh. "I'm best friends with the Weasley twins mom, of course I'll stay out of trouble,". Her mother sighed rather ostentatiously.
"Attitude Amelia! Now you better hurry, the train leaves in ten minutes!"
Amelia was slightly taken aback."Are you not coming on the platform with me?" They had been standing just outside the barrier. People bustled around, mothers and fathers with their children, business men with their shiny leather briefcases, there was a woman singing for change a couple yards down, people were either enchanted or did their very best to ignore her.
"Oh I don't think that will be necessary, you've seen Jeremy do it a thousand times." She said with a wave of her hand. The last time Jeremy had gone through the barrier was when Amelia was four. She was bothered that her mother always refused to be seen by the wizarding community, even in special occasions like this. Every birthday party Amelia could really remember had been at the Weasley house because her mother hated having guests over.
"Well I guess I'd better be off then." Amelia awkwardly kissed her mother on the cheek and without another word ran straight at the barrier. It was truly a strange sensation, walking through solid wall and coming out the other end. With a sudden rush of euphoria as she reached the other side, Amelia let out a laugh.
Finally she was free of the lonely days at home with her mother and the ditzy house elf, Glapp. She was free of the horrid memories of her brother and father that haunted her around the house like ghosts. She didn't have to even think about any of that because she was finally gone.
As she loaded her trunk onto the train she spotted Fred and George, her two best friends. Of course her and Ginny had always been close but in the past few years, the twins had taken over the special role of "best friends".
As it has been previously stated, Amelia was exceptionally powerful due to her lineage and her natural abilitly. Her family had an ancient magic about them that many modern wizards lack. It was perhaps for this reason, that Amelia had no trouble at all telling the twins apart.
The twins ran over to her and Fred picked her up and swung her around while George chanted something in Finnish. Amelia suspected that it was just a string of foul words but she decided not to question it. Fred put her down and they both beamed at her.
"This year is going to be the best Hogwarts has ever seen." Fred said, "We are going to make history for most detentions and most legendary pranks ever."George looked ecstatic, like a child on a sugar high.
"Seriously Amy, you're going to love it there. We'll show you the ropes and you'll be fine." Smoke billowed from the gleaming red Hogwarts express, casting the platform in a dramatic scene.Amelia laughed. "Me? Worried? It's like you don't know me at all George."
"Fair enough, let's go get a compartment shall we?"
Fred bowed slightly and offered Amelia his arm, "My lady?" She laughed and took it, allowing him to escort her onboard the train."Did you hear who's in the train Amelia?" Fred asked once they had sat down. She shook her head. "It's Harry Potter. He's even more famous then you are and that's saying something."
"Oh please I'm barely even famous. But Harry Potter? Wow. Apparently he grew up with muggles." She said, rolling her eyes at Fred. She was of course, terribly famous. Her family was constantly in the Daily Prophet and she had been hounded by the paparazzi on her way to the train.
"I bet dad would love to hear all about that" said George, "If there's one thing that's more messed up than me being related to Percy, it's dad's obsession with muggles."
After that they discussed all the crazy things Arthur Weasley had done in his time. The twins were the most likeable people she had ever met. Once the food trolley had come around, Fred stood up to make a proclamation.
"I think we should go visit IckleRonny-kins. Just to make sure he hasn't made too many friends."
Amelia laughed. Ron was always a little weird and the twins loved poking fun at him. He just made all classic stupid teenage boy choices, earning him a lot of harassment from his older brothers. They all left the compartment and made their way down to Ron's. On the way they heard several rumours about a tarantula that was loose on the train, a few boys whistled at Amelia. To which Fred shouted back, "She's eleven you sick bastards!"
"You make it sound like I still wear diapers" Amelia said slightly offended.
"Yeah well, sorry if those fourth year boys shouldn't be looking at you like that." Fred said with no qualms whatsoever.
Walking along the train, the trio was constantly stopped. It seemed everyone knew Fred and George and everyone wanted to all to them for at least ten minutes. Fred always introduced Amelia and people were generally nice, but they all adored the twins. Who could blame them?
They found Ron near the end of the train, who was seated with none other than Harry Potter. Amelia didn't pay attention to the twins as they were talking and instead observed the scrawny, dark haired boy sitting across from Ron. Amelia could sense something slightly different about him, almost dark. But he seemed very nice, his eyes radiated kindess. He looked quite sweet really, with his taped up glasses and his baggy clothes. She could tell that he had been badly treated by the people he lived with just by looking at him. Yet he still seemed so kind. Amelia felt a rush of affection for the skinny, dark haired boy sitting across from Ron.
After a few minutes she left with Fred and George, but split when she saw a group of first years. They waved to her and wiped tears from their eyes saying how proud they were she was going out on her own. Amelia rolled her eyes an laughed. She introduced herself to the first years and began making friends immediately. She was quite charming and people were naturally drawn to her. By the end of the train ride she was good friends with Dean Thomas, both the Patil sisters, Hannah Abbot, Lavender Brown, Terry Boot, Mandy Brocklehurst, Justin Finch-fletchley and Hermione Granger.
When the train finally screeched to a halt, it was dark outside. Amelia felt the same rush of euphoria, as before when she made it through the barrier. This was what she had been waiting for for so long.
