"What did you say?" Professor Lupin looked at her harshly.

"N-nothing!" Amelia turned away and half sprinted out of the room. She was speeding down a corridor when she heard someone yell her name.

"Amelia!" She looked to see Fred jog up to her. "What's up, love?"

"Oh," Amelia felt rather scattered at the moment. "Um not much. How are you?"

"Fantastic! Diana just agreed to go on a date with me!" He boasted.

"Who the fuck's Diana?"

"Don't worry about it." He grinned. "How are you?"

"I'm fine."

"You always say you're fine when you're not actually fine." Fred pointed out.

Amelia laughed. "Sometimes I think you know me too well. It's a bit unnerving."

"Yeah well no need to feel self conscious around me. I already know all your secrets!" He winked.

"Impossible. I have way too many." She teased.

Fred rolled his eyes. "That's what you want everyone to think."

"Maybe that's just what I want you to think." He laughed at that and tossed his arm around her shoulders.

"I can always count on you to be amusing."

Amelia frowned. "I'm not amusing."

"Really? Everyone else seems to think so. But I guess if Amelia Merlin, says it's not so then that must be the case!"

"Oh stop it!" She laughed.

But of course he didn't. "Make way everyone! Amelia Merlin coming through! Watch out or she'll jinx you so hard you have tentacles for eyes!" Fred called out and a few nervous first years shot her scared looks.

"I'm not going to jinx you!" She smiled comfortingly at them which they returned hesitantly.

"She's lying!" Fred yelled after them. "Watch your back!" One of them tripped and he roared in laughter.

"You are not very nice!" Amelia said sternly but she couldn't help laughing. Merely because Fred being so happy made her happy.

"I'm the nicest!"

"Liar." She grinned.

Fred feigned offense. "I am hurt! How could you accuse me of such behaviour! Why, I have never been so disrespected!"

"You deserve it!"

He clutched her hand in his. "Amelia! Why do you say these things! You're killing me!"

"Fred!" She laughed loudly. "Everyone's staring at you!"

"Me?" He raised his eyebrows. "They're defintely staring at you."

"Sometimes I just want to kick you right in the-"

"Amelia!" She turned  to see Cedric standing behind her. "How good to see you! I feel like we haven't talked in ages! Hey Fred!"

"Hello ... Cedric."

"How's everything going?" He smiled at the ginger boy who did not return the gesture.

"Fine. I expect you're here to talk to Amy?"

"Yes it's been a while since Amelia and I had a proper conversation!" Cedric said and Amelia could feel the testosterone levels rising.

"Well Amy and I never go long without talking. Ain't that right, love?" He looked at her expectantly.

Amelia rolled her eyes. "You boys are idiots, you know that right? Fucking idiots."
