Dakota went to the cave to get some rest while Barry and the others went to a secure location so Bett could practice her powers. Dakota curled up on the mattress in the corner and closed her eyes.
She heard a slight bang and a hand went over her mouth. Her eyes snapped open and she grabbed the wrist yanking it off her mouth. Dakota lashed out with her foot pushing the man away from her. She sat up from the bed and looked at her intruder.
It was her uncle.
"Was that necessary?!" She glared at him. "I've had a long night and I'd like to get some sleep."
"Sleep is for the weak." He said with his hands behind his back now. "I told you we'd start today."
"I just got a grenade thrown at me!" Dakota argued.
"Are you alright?" He asked. Dakota nodded and stood up. He tossed her a sword, "Good."
Dakota lunged at him and swung her sword. Ra's dodged it easily and sliced her shoulder open.
"Don't leave anything exposed." He instructed arching his sword through the air.
This time Dakota blocked it and kicked him in the gut. He barely moved and made a move to her stomach. She jumped back and swung the sword forward again.
The two fought for a while before Ra's had Dakota pinned against the wall with the sword to her throat and hers on the ground. She had a few cuts on her torso, nothing she couldn't stitch up. Ra's pulled away and sheathed his sword. Dakota picked up her sword and set it on the table. She took off her shirt and started to stitch up the cuts.
"Why now?" She asked looking at Ra's. "It's been fourteen years. You're not exactly the father figure I'd imagine."
"I've been otherwise preoccupied." He replied.
When Dakota looked up after finishing one cut Ra's was gone. Her phone rang and she picked it up to see it was Barry.
"Hey you." She said trying to hide the slight pain.
"We have a problem...Iris is still writing about me...and she signed her name..." Barry murmured.
Dakota grunted as she finished another cut with one hand, "Are you going to talk to her?"
"Yeah. Want to come or are you still hanging out with your old friend?" Barry asked.
"I'll be there. Just give me a few minutes." Dakota hung up the phone and finished the last of her stitches.
She cleaned up her torso and put on her suit.
Jitters
Dakota was waiting on the staircase watching Iris clean up the cafe. Barry zoomed in from the back door.
"Iris West." He stated. "I heard you've been writing about me."
"You're real." She declared.
"Meet me on the roof. I'll give you a head start." Barry winked and Dakota rolled her eyes.
Dakota swung herself up the staircase and onto the roof. Barry was already waiting, sitting on a ledge. Iris burst through the door and looked around for Barry.
"I need you to stop writing about me." Barry ordered.
"There are a lot of people that need to know about you." Iris pleaded. Barry zoomed onto the roof and stood next to Dakota. "I have so many questions. Where are you from?"
"You never asked me those questions." Dakota joked.
"I can't tell you that." He replied.
"Who are you?" Iris continued.
Dakota snorted with laughter, "He can't tell you that either."
"How can you do what you do?" Iris pressed on.
Barry stayed silent.
"I have this friend. He had something terrible happen to him and he's been chasing the impossible ever since. But now...it's like he's lost his faith...help me save my friend..." Iris murmured.
Dakota shot a zip line arrow onto another building and slid down it.
"He's a lucky guy."
