Barry and Dakota were sitting on the couch watching Joe decorate the tree.
"At this rate we'll be finished by Easter." Dakota complained glancing at Barry.
Joe noticed it too, "Don't even."
Barry whooshed around the Christmas tree and finished decorating it. He sat down and wrapped his arm around Dakota's shoulder.
"Okay the only red suited man I want in my house is Santa." Joe chuckled.
Barry sighed and rolled his eyes. He undecorated the tree besides what was already on there.
Iris came into the living room with a tray of eggnog, "Uh these ornaments aren't gonna hang themselves." She handed the three of them eggnog. "Grandma Ester's eggnog. Light on the bourbon."
Joe took a sip, "I always loved her definition of light."
Kota took a sip, "Me too."
Joe picked up his phone, "Okay. I'll be right there." He stuck it back in his pockets. "Sorry kids. DA wants to ask me some questions. There better be eggnog left when I get back."
Barry chuckled taking another sip, "No promises."
"Come on." Iris dragged Barry and Dakota to the floor.
She slid to presents in front of them. She grabbed another small box.
"Now? But it's not even Christmas yet." Kota whined.
Iris frowned at her but opened her present anyway.
"It's from the both of us." Barry said.
Iris pulled out a necklace with a wedding band on the chain, "My mother's wedding band?"
"We remembered that you lost it when we were kids on the fifth grade field trip." Barry smiled.
"To the zoo." Iris grinned and Barry helped her put it on. "Okay Dakota you next."
Dakota unwrapped the box and pulled out a picture frame. Inside the frame was a photo of Dakota's family, Barry's family and Iris's family when they all took a vacation together. In the photo Dakota was wearing her favorite hat.
She gently touched the glass, "Thank you..."
"Barry you next." Iris nudged his knee.
He unwrapped the present, "A microscope!"
"It's supposed to be the best on the market. I thought you could use a new one." Iris suggested. "Do you love it?"
"Yeah of course. Oh and Dakota, Oliver told me you should expect something in the mail today." Barry smirked.
Kota nodded, "Okay. I'll have to check later."
"Did you two get presents for each other yet?" Iris asked.
"Um..."
"Well..."
"About that...I'm not really a Christmas person...and I don't know what to get Barry." Dakota mumbled.
STAR Labs
Dakota and Barry came in carrying a bag full of gifts.
"Just a little appreciation for everything you've guys done for me." Barry said handing them out.
"And trusting me. Even though I'm a little murderous." Dakota laughed slightly.
"A little?" Cisco raised an eyebrow.
Dakota chuckled, "Fair point." She brought the thermos out. "Grandma Ester's eggnog."
"That's what I'm talking about." Cisco replied.
"No thanks. Don't wanna drink and drive." Wells murmured rolling away.
"The accident happened around the holidays. Kinds ruined them. I should get him a present, maybe that will cheer him up." Caitlyn suggested.
That Night
Barry and Dakota were squatting in front of two dead security guards at Mercury Labs.
"What are you thinking?" Joe asked.
"The blood spatter and the trajectory of the remains..." Barry trailed off.
"Only a high speed collision could've caused this." Kota finished. "I have a very bad feeling about this."
"Hey, the witness said he saw a blur." Eddie anounnced. "Sound familiar?"
"Seriously Eddie I will hit you." Kota threatened.
The three of them walked up to the man.
"You saw a blur? What was he like?" Barry asked.
"A man. In a yellow suit." He said, his voice trembling.
"Oh no." Dakota muttered to herself.
"I have to check my files. He's back. The man that killed my mom is back." Barry murmured pulling them away.
"I know. He's been in town for a few weeks. He came to the house took all of the evidence. Threatened Iris." Joe replied.
