 Chapter Twenty-Three:

I had Kayla in my arms sleeping quietly. She looked so at peace when she slept, as if she felt safe in my arms. She has been through quite a lot because of the Black Dogs. I wish to take all her pain away.

I kissed her nose then nuzzled her neck. She opened her eyes a smile appeared on her face “Hey” she yawned

“Hey” I grinned “I'll make you breakfast stay in bed” I told her getting up on my hands before I got off the bed I kissed her forehead. I put on some pants to cover myself before I went out.

“Thank you” she hugged the pillow

I got to the kitchen Hayden cooking something “What are you cooking?” I asked looking through the cabinets. Pancakes it is, oh and waffles.

“I'm cooking for Warwick and I after what I heard last night” Hayden laughed nudging my arm

“Yeah, yeah” I waved him off

“Anyway Warwick is going to school with one of his mates” Hayden told me

 “Alright, that’s good I guess” I answered.

I got out the frying pan placing the pancake mix on it. I also grabbed some tomatoes, cut them up and placed them on the frying pan as well.

“Looks good” Hayden commented finishing up making his meal

 “Thanks” I accepted the compliment

I grabbed a plate putting the cooked food onto it.

“The one time you don’t burn food” Hayden laughed. I punched him in the arm before going back to my room.

“Here you go” I came back into my room. She sat up against her pillow; I placed the food in her lap for her to eat.

I lay out with my head on her legs closing my eyes

“My legs are going to go numb” she laughed, “You're so heavy, fat ass” she insulted me pushing me off of her

I rolled over off of her and I faced up at the ceiling wondering about how I'm going to tell her I'm leaving soon even if it is for a short while. I guess I wont for now

“What is it babe?” she had a look of concern on her face

“Nothing” I rolled over onto my stomach “Is the food good?” I asked

“Nah it’s terrible” she said with a smile “I'm joking” she laughed

“That was a terrible joke” I stated

She finished her food putting it on the bedside table. She lay back down on the bed. I went over and lay my head on her stomach. She laced her fingers through my hair. I closed my eyes.

It felt like we could stay like that for ages, as if we could stay in each other’s arms forever.

I heard a faint knock on the door. “Yeah?” I asked who ever that was coming in; I was lazy so I didn’t move

“Its Warwick” he came wondering into the room. I got up, sitting on the side of the bed at least I had my pants on.

“Can we do something after school today?” he asked me

“Sure buddy” I tousled his hair, he smiled

“Can I have a hug?” he looked at the floor

“Sure” I stood up, picking him up into a bear hug squeezing him tightly.

I set him down, he had a huge smile on his face “See ya” he left the room. “Oh and hi Kayla” he poked his head back in before leaving
