 Chapter Twenty-Four:

“Are you going to tell me where we are going this late at night?” Warwick asked skipping alongside Hayden and I

“Its only five o’clock Warwick and like I said before you're just going to have to wait” I answered "It's a surprise"

“I still think that’s not fair” Warwick went further ahead of us

Warwick suddenly stopped in the middle of the footpath with a smile on his face “I know where we are going”

“Where?” I asked him, he probably knew even though I took another route to the park

 “The park” Warwick guessed

“Nope” I lied. A look of disappointment went onto Warwick's face

“He's joking” Hayden put in. Hayden jabbed me in the ribs with his elbow as if to tell me off for lying to Warwick

“Oh” Warwick ran of ahead towards the park

“You are so mean” Hayden scolded

“Whatever” I waved him off "I just wanted it to be a surprise"

“Are you just angry because you have to leave?” Hayden asked folding his arms stopping the both of us

“No” I shoved my hands in my pockets, I know I am annoyed because of this. I have to leave everyone I love behind because of this stupid war that is raging between species.

“There is a lot more at stake Logan, just accept responsibility and step up to the role you have been given” Hayden lectured me

“Save it Hayden I'm going to do it, I know about all the risks believe me I do, that this is all bigger than me. Why couldn’t you do it Hayden, why does it always have to be me? I just want a break from all this, all of it!” I frowned. I was beginning to breath heavily from anger.

“The answer is simple to your question. You're a Hybrid I'm not. This world works a lot different now. Only the strongest creatures can take important titles Logan. Understand that the fate of a lot of creatures is determined by how you train them. Help them to keep themselves alive. The world is a lot different than it used to be, for all of us” Hayden held his head in his hand sighing “Its different for everyone, not just you Logan” Hayden’s voice was filled with sadness

“What is it Hayden?” I asked him, something must be bothering him

“I've lost so many people to the Black Dogs Logan, I lost you for god sake and when you came back, you were different a lot different. I tried to ignore it but I couldn’t. You changed in ways that was unbearable. I have had my mate killed and my sons and daughter taken away, that is where they went Logan" Hayden explained "These sick monsters captured them!” he shouted

“Gosh Hayden, I mean I'm sorry brother” I put my arm around Hayden's shoulders continuing to walk in the direction of the park

“Don’t worry brother its not as if anything could be done” Hayden shrugged me off, my arm leaving his shoulders

“I’ll keep on look out for them when I leave, maybe they escaped and joined another pack or something” I promised

“Just focus on winning this battle against them, to put them back in there place and banish them from this planet we call earth” Hayden said as we entered the park. Warwick was already high up in a tree.

“Can you keep Warwick safe?” I asked him desperately

“Of course I can. Spend this time you have with him the best you can possibly make it. He’ll like that” Hayden told me before sitting down on the ground “And yes I'll look after Kayla as well, if she needs it. Lucky for you, you have marked  her lets just hope people respect that. I'm not counting on it” Hayden indicated for me to sit next to him on the soft grass.
