Chapter Twenty-Two

I blinked myself awake, smiling until I remembered where I was.

I did something with Kai last night, that I will most likely regret in the near future.

I turned over on my side, watching Kai peacefully sleep beside me.

I took that as my escape option.

I lightly pushed the blanket off of me, before Kai let out a sound.

I squeezed my eyes shut, quietly raising myself from the bed. I my eyes once I finally leveled myself on the floor.

I quietly slipped into my clothes, grabbing my shoes in my right hand before I stepped on a creaky floorboard.

"Leaving so soon?" Kai's groggily spoke up, causing me to flinch, freezing in my place.

"If you tell anyone about this, I will end you." I threatened, nearly losing my balance as I put my shoes on.

"Oh, don't worry. Secret romances are hotter." Kai smirked, causing my face to contort.

I grabbed my jacket before I left the stranger's apartment.

If I were those people, I would burn those sheets when I get home from my vacation.

"Cassidy?" Jo's announces, as I sneak out of her neighbor's apartment.

"Jo.." I trailed off,

"You look like a mess- wait I thought the Ferguson's were out of town?" her eyebrows furrowed.

"Uhh- I-" I stuttered, my mouth hanging open. "They are. I was house-sitting for a few days, and their house has now been sat upon, so I'm gonna go-" I rambled, attempting to scurry off.

"Alright, I'll see you later? Tell Elena I say 'Hi'.." she offered, as I raced down the hallway.

What have I done?

I tip-toed into the Salvatore house, praying not to get caught by Elena.

If she knows I didn't come home last night, I'm screwed.

I continue walking deeper into the Salvatore house before I hear a pan crash in the kitchen. "What the hell.." I mutter, storming towards the kitchen.

I burst through the door to see a bowl of pancake batter, a plate of pancakes on the kitchen table, and a real-life Bonnie Bennett standing before me.

Tears immediately form in my eyes. "B- Bonnie?"

"Yeah.." she lets out a cry. "It's me."

I race into her arms, and we sob into each other's shoulders.

She's back, and alive.

"Oh my god, I can't- you made it. You're so strong, Bonnie. My god, you're so strong." I smile into her shoulder as a pair of footsteps approach from behind.

"Well, well, well. What do we have here-" Damon froze in his place as I released my grip on Bonnie.

"Bon-Bon?" he breathes.
