Chapter 4

378 16 30

Once I got back to the safety of my wonderful bedroom, I plopped down onto my bed, getting comfortable because I highly doubt I would be getting up anytime soon.

I made a mental note to start getting ready for the date around 4:30, I wasn't gonna get all dolled up or anything, but I would at least make an effort to look less like a potato.

Once I was settled in, I picked up my phone and went onto Twitter to do some more voting. I noticed that I had a few DMs, so I went to check them. I was secretly hoping they were from Michael.

To my surprise, they actually were from Michael. I couldn't contain my smile, I'm not sure why I was so excited. But after our one short conversation, I had decided I definitely wanted to talk to him more.

"Hey, Evie," his message read.

I typed back a simple greeting and eagerly awaited his response.

"How is your night going?" He asked.

Night? He must live in a different time zone, a majorly different one, since it was about 12:00 pm here.

"It's around noon where I live, but I'm doing dandy," I responded.

"Did you seriously just say dandy?"

I blushed slightly. I tend to have pretty odd (A/N cue panic!) vocabulary, but people didn't usually call me out on it.

"Yes, I did. I'm lame I know :("

"Aw, cmon, turn that frown upside down Evie,"

I smiled at his playful response. I couldn't help but feel proud of myself for actually being able to hold a conversation with someone. Especially someone as attractive as he was.

"So we obviously live in different time zones, where do you live?" I questioned. I was secretly hoping he would be British, or Australian or something. I love accents.

"So you're trying to stalk me, huh?"

Oops, I was doing so well, and now he probably thinks I'm insane. Hopefully he's just joking around.

"No no no, uh I'm sorry that's not what I was going for. You don't have to tell me it's fine." I sent back in a panic.

"Evie, it's alright, I was joking, you don't need to get so worked up, I'm not judging you. And I'm from Australia by the way ;)"

HELL YES

AUSTRALIAN ACCENT

FROSTING ON THE ALREADY SEEMINGLY PERFECT CAKE.

I needed to calm down, it's not like this would ever turn into anything more than casual Twitter friends, but still. This was exciting news.

Plus he just said he wouldn't judge me, which made me at least feel a little more comfortable.

"Oh wow, Australia seems so nice. I would love to go there some day. I'm from New York,"

There, I said it. Now let's just pray he isn't gonna hunt me down and kill me.

"Trust me, Australia isn't all it's made out to be. Maybe it's just because I've lived here my whole life, but I can't wait to leave. New York seems cool though."
