Evie's POVI froze when I heard the loud voices from downstairs. I knew who they were, and the thought of them being here terrified me a bit. Especially Ashton.
"Ashton and the boys are here," I said, worry lacing my tone.
Michael's eyes widened slightly, and the smile on his face dropped a bit.
My heart stopped when I heard loud footsteps approaching my room.
"And they're coming," I whispered, debating whether or not to hide my phone.
No, I will not let them choose who I talk to. Ashton will not stop me from associating with Michael. Michael makes me happy, and that's all that matters.
I braced myself as my door squeaked open. I prepared myself for yelling, and I prepared myself for possibly another fight.
I was surprised when the three boys causally entered my room, smiles on all of their faces.
"Hey Evie," Calum said with a smile.
My mouth dropped open as I stared at the boys in front of me. Had they noticed Michael? Why wasn't Ashton screaming yet?
The three boys stared back at me in anticipation, and I began to feel incredibly awkward.
"H-hi," I stuttered.
"Sorry to interrupt your conversation with your, uh, friend," Ashton said with a hint of anger in his tone. He narrowed his eyes at me, sending chills down my spine.
Ashton received a glare from both Luke and Calum, causing him to shake his head in disgust.
"That's alright mate," Michael replied. I almost forgot he was there.
Everyone's eyes darted to my phone, and I held it upright so everyone in the room could see the screen clearly.
"Don't mate me," Ashton said, rolling his eyes.
Michael just chuckled.
"I haven't met you two yet I don't think," Michael spoke, gesturing towards Luke and Calum. "I'm Michael,"
Luke and Calum both smiled awkwardly before greeting him back.
"Well it's nice to see that Evie at least hangs out with two decent people," Michael said with a smirk. "Well, three counting me,"
Oh, he just threw some shade.
I shot him a warning glare, trying to get him to stop pushing his luck with Ashton.
I noticed Ashton's face quickly growing more red by the second. I was so tired of this back and forth with him over something so stupid. I hated the way he was acting towards me, but I'm not sure what to do to stop it.
I decided to ignore the previous exchange between Michael and Ashton, and change the subject.
"So, what brings you guys here?" I asked.
"Well, we were having a quick band practice, when we decided to look for a guitarist. We kinda just went around town looking for people. We found no one, obviously. And then we wanted to hang out with you, so here we are," Luke answered.
"No, Luke, you wanted to hang out with her," Ashton corrected.
Luke's cheeks flamed bright red, and he looked to Calum for reassurance.
"No, I wanted to as well," Calum said, realizing Luke's embarrassment.
Ashton just smirked, and shook his head.
