Evie's POV
Right as I was in the middle of letting out all of my worry for Michael by curling up in a ball on my bed, and sobbing uncontrollably I heard a soft knock on my door.
I panicked and did my best to wipe the tears from my eyes, and quickly sat up on my bed.
Before I could hide that I had been crying, Ashton entered my room.
"Evie, mom's friends are her-" he began before stopping in his tracks, and taking in my appearance.
His mouth opened and closed as his eyes wandered my face, taking in the smeared mascara and the fresh tears scattered across my cheeks.
Within seconds he was at my side, examining me for any injuries. Once he was sure I wasn't physically hurt, his gaze moved from my body to my eyes. His hazel eyes were filled with worry as they burned into my own.
"Evie, what happened?" He finally spoke.
I knew I couldn't tell him, as he would certainly freak out if I told him about Michael. But also, Michael needed help, and I had to tell someone.
I just continued to cry, and dug my face into his chest as he wrapped his strong arms around my shaking body. I know I'm being weak, but I'm not used to things like this happening.
My life has always been pretty worry free, and I had never really been exposed to anything quite like what I had just witnessed. I knew things like that occurred on a daily basis, but I had never seen it for myself, so it never seemed real.
But now it was confirmed in my brain that abuse is a real and true thing, and Michael, one of the people I cared about most, was suffering through that right now and I had no way to help him.
After a few moments, I took a deep breath and pulled away from Ashton, wiping the tears from my face. I tried my best to pull myself together, as I tried to come up with an excuse for my current state.
Ashton continued to rub circles into my back and wait for me to speak. Bless his heart for being so understanding. Usually in situations like this, he's very demanding, and doesn't give me much time to calm down.
As I was wracking my brain for an excuse, my phone began to buzz from my nightstand, which was placed directly next to Ashton. I rushed to grab it once I saw the incoming Skype call from Michael, but I was too late.
Ashton took one glance at the screen and picked it up harshly. He examined the screen for a moment before fixating his eyes on me. His eyes went from worried to angry in a millisecond.
"Who the hell is this?" He barked, shoving the screen in my face.
I ripped the phone from his hands and hit accept as fast as I could. I didn't want Ashton finding out about Michael, but now that he was calling me back I just had to make sure he was okay.
"Answer my question damn it!" Ashton screamed.
I continued to ignore him and stared at the screen as the chat began to connect. Within seconds I saw the boy who never failed to make my heart wrench.
Except this time, something about him was different.
The skin around his left eye was a deep shade of purple, looking like he had been punched in the eye.
He had a deep gash across his cheek, that had spilled blood all over his perfect features.
A trail of Crimson blood was trickling out of his nose, which looked slightly crooked, as if it had been broken.
His eyes lacked their usual glimmer, and for once he looked, intimidating almost. He usually wore a goofy grin, and was the cutest and sweetest boy I had ever come across. But now, his eyes held a certain anger, the usual blue green color had dulled down to a soft grey, and they looked hollow and empty.
