Chapter 9
Bailey's POV
I didn't know what to do. Niall wanted me to meet him at 8:00. Why did he want to talk to me? I wasn't sure if I really wanted to go. What did he have planned?
I fell back on top of my bed. This boy just won't quit, will he?
Unable to think of an answer of if I should go or not myself, I felt the need to talk to someone. Someone I could trust. My hands roamed the duvet until I found my phone that I had left moments before. I started to type a text to Aubrey.
"Would you say yes to meet up with someone that you don't like?"
I hit send, and dropped my phone back to the duvet. I picked up a textbook that I needed to read over for one of my math classes. We had a quiz coming up and I needed to study. Within a minute, my phone buzzed beside me.
"Depends who it is. Wait, who wants to meet up with you?!"
I sighed at her text. She had no clue about some of the things Niall has done, let alone what's happened to me in the past. Aubrey won't understand if I tell her that I'd never date him.
"Niall Horan."
I'm ready to just give up on this conversation. Aubrey didn't have the answer I was hoping for. I wanted a, 'Ew, no way! Don't go with him!' But no, her response was,
"Are you shitting me? Niall- the jock- Horan? You should go! He's cute, yet quite mysterious. Huh, I never thought he'd be interested in anyone besides a cheerleader."
Although it was probably a little rude of me, I didn't respond.
*****
For three hours I was contemplating whether or not I should go. There was a devil and an angel on my shoulders. One said, 'Go! Just give in already! You think he's cute.' The other said, 'Who knows what that boy is up to. You can't trust him.'
All of this was giving me a headache. I rose from my bed and reached into a bin of medicine. I took the small pill into the only bathroom on this floor. Other girls were already in the restroom when I entered. Some waved to me as a hello. I took a paper cup and filled it with water. My pill was dropped down my throat, along with the liquid. My feet traveled back to my dorm room. Again, I picked up my phone, but this time to check the time. In ten minutes, Niall would be expecting me out on the field. I walked over to the small window in the corner of my room. The blinds were pulled back and I glanced out. The sun was already setting in the horizon. Great, I'd be sitting outside in the dark with Niall.
I did not know why, but I had an odd urge to find out what Niall wanted to tell me. My mind took over my body and moved me to the door. My hand was placed on the knob, slowly turning it. My iPhone was placed in my back pocket while I walked down the hallway. I couldn't believe I was giving in to this man. He was like...my weakness. Niall's figure had been jumbled through my thoughts recently. Maybe it's just because I've been thinking about Eli and he resembles Niall. I'm sure that's it.
Without even realizing it, I had reached the pavement. I looked up to the sky. The sun was still setting below some tall trees in the distance. Leaves were blowing off the bushes, and into the street. The breeze made me shiver. I carried myself closer to the large field I was supposed to meet him in. My eyes looked around to try and find him. Blond locks caught my attention. Niall was sat on a blanket. He hadn't noticed me. His eye sight was directed to his hands, fumbling them around. Some of the leaves crackled at me feet. His head raised.
"Bailey," Niall spoke, almost astonished that I actually came. So was I.
"Hi," I softly said in return.
