Chapter 43

Bailey's POV

They say you know when someone is the one. It's that feeling, that sense of desire to have them be in your presence at all times. How you couldn't imagine your life without them. You would constantly feel empty, boring, or worthless without being with that person who makes your heart skip two beats more than usual. When you're cradled in their strong, muscular arms you feel safe, content, and happy. Like no one can touch you. It's incredible- that feeling. Unfortunately, for some individuals that feeling never comes. The spark never shines. But, for others . . it's like they've struck gold.

"Hot sand, hot sand, hot sand," I hear Aubrey say, wincing over and over at each forced step she takes. I squint my eyes open and twist my head to watch her approach me on the sprawled out blanket I set up earlier today. The tan sand flies out behind her as she kicks. The black sunglasses bounce on the bridge of her nose.

Finally successful in reaching me, my best friend for almost a complete year sits down next to me. I sit straight up, crossing my two bare legs in a comfortable pretzel form.

"What's on the agenda for today?" I smile, adjusting the top of my bikini.

Aubrey digs through a bag before replying, "Eating, drinking, and relaxing." She holds up a bag of crisps and beer with a grin.

I happily sigh, laying back down on the large blanket and pushing my own pair of sunglasses on my eyes. The sun's warm rays hit me, toasting up my body. I seem to lay there for a while, minutes upon minutes pass in peaceful serenity. I'm left to my own thoughts. We're one day in this trip and I'm already loving it.

The sound of crashing waves and the delicate beat of the music Aubrey turns on makes my eyes flutter closed. I wish to doze off and take a nice nap on the beach.

My wish, however, is not granted. An abrupt body places itself directly next to mine, and nudges into my side. I ignore it at first, thinking it's just Aubrey trying to annoy me.

It's when the figure rolls itself on top of my body that my eyes open. I'm not exactly sure who I was expecting, but I'm surprised to see Niall. He's hovering over me in push-up position. I stare into his light blue eyes and they appear to sparkle in the direct light. I take notice in what he's wearing.. or what little he's wearing. There's no shirt adorning his somehow perfectly tanned chest. I force myself to look away from the abs that make my mouth dry. Navy swim trunks cover the bottom part of his body.

"When did you get here?" I quietly ask, mouth curving up into a small smile as he uses only one arm to hold his body weight up. The other swipes away the sunglasses on my face. Niall tosses them to the side.

"Just now, after I had my lunch. Which, by the way, was very yummy, thank you," he grins, flicking his head up to the direction of the beach house.

I nod in reply.

Before I walked down here I had set out a platter of sandwiches for Niall when he woke up. Joining it, was a note written by me, just explaining where I was.

Niall leans down, pressing his body against mine as our lips connect. For a few moments, the kiss is slow and sweet. His tongue slips in my mouth and he moves his head to the side, which only deepens the intimate scene.

It's when Niall slowly and tortuously rolls his hips down on mine that the lack of clothing we're currently wearing finally processes in my mind as a wrong thing to down in public. Or at least in the presence of my friend. I find it quite odd that she hasn't made any gagging noises yet.
