Chapter 31

Niall's POV

Of course. Once again, I've fucked up. But how could she kick me out of her room? I'm her boyfriend and she chooses Brandon over me? That's bullshit. Sure, I could've restrained my anger more, but if I see someone else purposely trying to get with my girl I have the right to step in! Whatever, I don't care.

But you do care, my mind speaks to me.

I run my fingers through my hair, sighing. I can't focus on the professor with all this. Bailey hasn't called or texted me since last night. On top of that, I have a football game later today and I know for a fact that if she doesn't come I'll be shit. It has always been that way. Yeah, that may sound kind of selfish, wanting her to be there so I will play good. But it's not just that. I hate when she's mad at me. I feel guilty for yelling at her. My guilt got so bad, this morning I almost apologized to Brandon. However, my brain actually started to function and I stopped myself.

God I just pray that she will be there tonight.

*******

"Where ya girl at?"

I turn around to see Chase walking towards me with a grin. I twist back on the locker bench to finish slipping on my sneakers.

"She here?" He presses.

No.

"Yes," I lie, trying to sound strong.

"Huh. Didn't see her in the stands."

He really is pushing it here.

"She's just running a bit late. She'll be here," I say in a challenging way.

"Okayy, mate."

Now Bailey really needs to show up. Maybe I should call her. I wait for Brandon and a few more lads to leave the locker room before taking out my phone. Her number is called and I wait to hear her voice. It doesn't come and she sends me to voicemail. Shit. The beep goes off and I suck in a breath.

"Hey, Bailey.. um, I was just calling to see if you were going to be coming to my game tonight?" I pause for a moment, thinking of what to say next. "I really want you to be here..I'm sorry for last night. It shouldn't have happened. Could we talk about this?" The ref's whistle blows from outside the locker room, causing me to stop talking. "I have to go now, we're starting. Just please, stop by?"

I stop the voicemail, carelessly throwing my phone back in the bag. I jog out on to the field where the rest of the team is huddled together.

(Bailey's POV)

I return to my dorm room from the bathroom. The hot water was running low, causing me to finish up early. My phone lit up on my duvet just as I entered. I trail over to it, picking up the phone.

One missed voicemail from Niall.

I bite my lip in concentration. Should I answer? Something may be wrong, I really need to pick it up. And I do. The green button is clicked and I raise the phone to my ear. It takes a minute before I hear his voice on the other line.

"Hey, Bailey..um, I was just calling to see if you were going to be coming to my game tonight?"

His game! Niall pauses and my eyes dart to the alarm clock on my bedside table. It's six forty-two and the game started at six thirty. I can't believe I forgot about it!

"I really want you to be here..I'm sorry for last night. It shouldn't have happened. Could we talk about this?" Again, he stops talking. For a moment I think he stopped the voicemail there, but then he continues.
