Chapter 62
Niall's POV
One Month Later - End of September
"All done." Bailey strides out of the small enclosed office room I was once in less than an hour ago. There is a smile etched on her perfect face while she comes forward to me where I've been waiting for her in the lobby on a maroon cushioned sofa.
I stand up, my height looming over her petite frame.
"How'd it go?"
I take her smaller hands in mine, a form of my appreciation and gratitude that she just did that. And she looks genuinely happy she did so. That only makes me love her even more than I already do. Bailey gleams up at me, excitement specks glittering in her captivating blue eyes.
"Great. The transfer applications have been sent in, along with my transcripts from here. We'll be able to start in the beginning of the winter semester. That gives us a few months to get settled in Liverpool and you can fully concentrate on football and not worry about school work."
I could kiss her right now. And I would if were weren't in the common lobby of the main office building on campus. Men in business suits are trudging past us and entering various conference rooms.
I'm so happy right now. I can't even wrap my head around the amount of sacrifices Bailey's making for me. She's giving up the friendships she's made here, the sense of security and safety she feels here at this school, and all the familiarity of her surroundings. Everything will be different there. I guess it's good that we aren't immediately starting classes when we get there. That gives us plenty of time to get used to the campus and the area.
She'll also be further from her family.
God I hope she won't regret this. I swear once we arrive to Liverpool I'm going to assure that's she's okay and that's she comfortable and that she likes it. If I see one glint of unhappiness or uncertainty in her perfect blue eyes, we're packing up and returning here.
Fuck football, Bailey is my main priority and her happiness is more important than mine.
"Thank you," I say for what is probably the thousandth this month.
"Stop saying that." Bailey scowls, wrapping her thin arms around my waist and resting her head on my solid chest. "I'm not doing you a favor that should be rewarded in thanks, we're doing this together because it's what's best for our futures."
"I love you," I whisper into her ear.
"I love you," she promises.
I take her hand and we walk out of the office building together.
Before Bailey had her appointment where an elderly woman working for Manchester helped her send in her transfer papers and credits, I had mine completed. We're both now eligible to become students at the University of Liverpool. The woman reassured me that her and I would both get accepted due to our high credit scores and GPA. However, we're to hear back from Liverpool in the following week for the final decision.
"What did your parents have to say about you transferring with me?" I cautiously ask as our feet tap on the damp tarmac, hands effortlessly swaying between our bodies. I never really asked Bailey what her parents said when she called them and told them her plans to go with me to Liverpool. It never came up; nothing made me bring it up in a conversation because I didn't know how she'd react. Maybe they completely flipped shit on her and she's feeling guilty and just not showing it. Honestly, I didn't really want to know what they said. Then I'd feel bad that she's living with this pressure of her parents not approving of her decision and then me leaving to pursue my football career. It's too much for her.
