Chapter 21

Bailey's POV

Friday night comes quickly and I'm getting ready for the party. Aubrey told me that it's located at the same house from last time. Everyone must like going off-campus to party.

I dress in a short and tight black dress. The sleeves reach just below my forearms. The material rests halfway down my thighs. I pair the dress with a sliver necklace and bracelet. Heels are placed on my feet and I pull my hair up into a stylish high ponytail. Next is the makeup. Two layers of eyeliner are drawn on to my eyes, along with a coat of mascara. The look is finished off with a bit of foundation, but not too much. Finally, a few dabs of lipgloss are added to my lips.

I stand in front of a body mirror to examine how I look. I turn around to glance at every angle I can see. As far as I can tell, I do look good. The low-cut dress may be a problem if there are some hormonal perves at the party, but I'll try to steer clear of them. I most definitely don't want this party to end up like last time; running away from a guy, and into the arms of Niall.

The party was said to start at nine o'clock and it's already nine-forty. I snatch my clutch and phone while leaving the dorm room. The door is locked behind me, as usual. I slide the key in my clutch, making my way down the busy hallway.

I reach the house and already, these heels are killing me. I take a moment to stop and break, giving my feet a chance to recover. More students are piling into the house. Some are lingering outside, lighting cigarettes by the front pavement. My phone buzzes in my purse. I dig it out to read a text message from Aubrey.

"You here? I'm in the kitchen."

Deciding that I'm done with my break, I put back my phone and continue the walk inside the house. Just as I presumed, the place is covered with students. Red plastic cups are littered on the couches and tables. I feel bad for whoever has to clean up after us.

Bodies are dancing against each other in almost every room. Trying to remember the layout from the last time I was here, I find my way to the kitchen. Just as she promised, Aubrey is standing by the counter with a glass in her hand. Kyle is chatting with her.

"Hi," I smile, walking up to them.

"Hey, Bailey," Kyle grins. "Sweet party, eh? I heard it's going to turn out really well."

I like Kyle. He is the perfect match for Aubrey. Both are friendly and kind.

"Sounds good," I reply.

Aubrey takes my arm and bends my head down to come closer to her lips.

"I've been people watching the whole time. I've seen about five different guys that are cute enough for your standards. One is over there and-"

"Aubrey, I'm fine," I cut her off mid-sentence. "I really don't need another guy any time soon. I like being single, actually."

I stand tall. She frowns at me.

"But we're at a party! Don't you want to dance with someone?"

"No, I don't prefer to grind on some stranger's body," I answer with a laugh.

Aubrey rolls her eyes, "Fine."

Kyle reaches over us and hands me a plastic cup, much like every other person in this room.

"Have a drink. This one is really good," he warmly smiles.

Only one, I promise myself.

"Thanks."

I take the cup and bring it up to my lips. The vodka burns my throat and I almost gag. After it soothes, I can taste the sweetness. It is good and tastes of a fruity drink.
