Chapter 41
Bailey's POV
"I'm sure you did great, Niall," I assure him for the tenth time since we left the testing hall. I had an hour before my next class so I decided to surprise him and be there when he finished his last finals assessment. I even wore our SnapBack to make him smile. Niall was very uneasy when I first saw him. His head was bowed low to the ground, looking very dejected.
"I failed it," he snaps, shrugging my comforting hand from his shoulder. My mouth parted in shock as Niall trudged away further down the paved sidewalk.
I stood still, watching him. I sealed my lips closed after a moment. His golden hair was fisted tightly, tugging at the strands. He's never acted this way, rejecting me.
"I'm only trying to help." My voice comes out in a mere whisper. The weakness was heartbreaking. My hands shakily rise to take off the SnapBack resting on my head. I hold it in my hands. Niall makes it across the street, more than four meters before his body turns around. His eye contact with me is intimidating. I step back at the intense gaze his frosty blue eyes portray. A deep, low sigh rambles from his rib cage. He steps forward on the black cement ground.
"I'm sorry," Niall mumbles, keeping a slow pace as he inches closer to me. I glance down at my feet, refusing to look up at the man who angrily left me standing here. I fumble with the hat between my fingers, turning it over and under, curiously peering at the lettering and stitching. Niall's standing directly in front of me, height towering over my petite frame.
My breath comes out staggered as he grips on to the SnapBack, removing it from my grasp. His hand brushes loose strands of my hair, fingers loosely tangling through the waves. The hat is brought down to rest on my head. I close my eyes when his lips make contact with my cheek.
"Hey," he whispers in a soft tone. "Look at me."
His finger reaches from under my chin, tilting it up, and forcing me to look straight at him. Even with his features screwed together in a frown, Niall's still the most breathtaking male I've ever seen.
"I'm sorry for snapping at you. Finals has just been really stressful. My future career depends on these tests, and I don't want to fail them."
"I know, Niall. I take them, too. They're tough, I know that. I was just trying to make you feel better," I tell him.
"And I appreciate it." A small smile curves on his lips. "Forgive me?"
Niall bends down, and our lips brush. He stays there, testing to see what I'll do. I make no move in trying to step away. I want to be upset with him, he can't just throw me aside and expect me to be okay with it. But, I want to kiss him. His lips are like drugs to me. The soft and delicate feeling makes butterflies erupt in my stomach.
I kiss him.
It starts out slow, lips just barely connecting. Then, my fingers mess together at the nape of his neck, curling the small hairs. I go in search for the spot in which attracts a low moan from him. I've previously found it during a time when both of us were desperately trying to feel each other.
I silently praise myself when the deep growl emits deep within him. Niall hastily pushes me against the closest wall, grinding his hips down to mine. I gasp into his mouth, already beginning to feel the hardening bulge growing in his pants.
The passionate kiss has our tongues fighting together for dominance. As usual, Niall overpowers me, claiming the territory. A trail of hungry kisses are left down my neck and straight to my collarbone, leaving goose bumps in their wake.
A new form of bravery overtakes me as his hips make contact with my shorts again. I pry his hands off of my waist, splitting our swollen lips.
"Come on," I breathlessly speak, staring up at his icy eyes. Niall's tongue darts out to lick his lips. I'm tugged along the street towards the direction of our dorm.
