Chapter 70
Bailey's POV
My stomach nervously flips.
I gulp down the anxiousness and widely stare at Niall. He warmly looks back and we stay like that for the longest time.
"Who's..." I trail off in a short whisper.
He then moves to the door and grasps the handle. It's pulled open and I step closer, extremely confused and skittish.
Two figures step through the doorway and into the house.
Instantly, I fling myself forward at my friends, practically attacking them into a hug. Possibly the loudest, most movie-like gasp parts from my lips as I tightly hug the two.
"Happy birthday, Bailey!" Aubrey squeals into my ear.
"Happy birthday, babe," Kyle adds and I can tell he's smiling. He gives me a kiss on the cheek as Aubrey jumps up and down against me.
"Thank you," I'm barely able to say past my shock. "I can't believe you guys are here. It's been forever!"
Aubrey agrees with me while Kyle steps past us to hug Niall. Once they begin to chat, Aubrey pulls me into another embrace before hastily searching for my hands. She grasps my left one and excitedly squeals when she sees the ring.
"It's so beautiful!" she gushes and I smile.
"Thank you."
"Later on, you are telling me exactly how he proposed, okay? If I need to, I will forcefully restrain you to a chair or something like that until you tell me," Aubrey teasingly, yet sternly tells me.
I laugh at her comment, honestly believing her.
"So how long are you guys staying here?" I gleam, turning the conversation to all four of us.
"We thought we'd stay until tomorrow to see Niall's game," Kyle says.
I'm so happy to see them. I've missed them terribly and sharing my birthday with my best friends and fiancé has got me incredibly excited.
I had momentarily forgotten about Niall's game, my mind caught up in the surprise visit and not yet coming down from cloud nine.
Aubrey and Kyle leave to retrieve their bags from their car. When they return, Niall verbally directs them to the one guest room we have that is a few doors down from our bedroom.
They trail up the stairs, lugging behind a bag each. Niall and I watch them from the front door as they step inside the bedroom.
I immediately turn to Niall once I hear the click of the door.
"Thank you so much, Niall. Honestly, I couldn't think of anything else I'd want to do for my birthday and I can't thank you enough. This is amazing," I breathe out, attaching our lips.
He holds my waist firmly and I sling my arms around his neck.
"Is this better than taking you out to some shit restaurant?" He chuckles against my lips.
"Much better," I giggle.
It's true. This is one of my favorite gifts that I have ever received. It just goes to show that I don't need fancy jewelry or expensive vacations. The little things that are sentimental and special to you is what counts the most.
