My New Doctor

Chapter 59

Harry's POV
I woke up this morning and Sophie was curled around me with her leg sprawled across me, I could feel the heat radiating off her skin but I was really cold. I assumed that Sophie must be coming down with something so I tried to pry her off me gently and when I finally got free I heard her grunt in her sleep as her leg touched the bed I laughed at her as I went to have a shower.
When I got out of the shower Sophie was still asleep which I found odd as she hardly ever sleeps in and we have work in an hour so I walked over to her and gently shook her shoulder to try and wake her "morning sleepyhead" I said quietly as she opened her eyes
"Morning haz" she said barely above a whisper
"You feeling okay love?" I asked as I felt her forehead
"I don't feel great but I'm okay" she smiled
"What's up?"
"I think I've got a head cold that's all, I'll be fine don't worry" she stated as she got up to get ready
"But it's my job to worry you know that, you know you haven't got to go to work today" I tried but she laughed
"Nice try haz, I'll have some painkillers for the headache and I'll be okay, honest"
"Okay but you have to let me know if you get worse" I said and she nodded.
I headed out of the room to make sure Rachel was up, I knocked her door "rach you up?" I shouted
"Yeah I'll be out in 5!" She shouted back so I headed downstairs and made some breakfast for everyone.
20 minutes later we were all done eating and began piling into my car and I took Rachel to school and I drive Sophie and me to work.
I was 3 hours into my shift when my phone rang "hello?"
"Hi Harry it's Liam, I've got a patient here and she's freaking out, she won't come anywhere near me I could really use some help?" He said in a panic
"Okay I'll be up now" I said and grabbed my stethoscope and headed for Liam's office.
When I got there I could see Liam stood talking to a young girl but she was screaming at him to leave her alone so I walked over and sat two seats away from her "hi I'm Harry" I said calmly "what's wrong?"
"Him, I don't like him get him away from me!" She shouted
"I need you to calm down, what don't you like about him?" I said as gently as possible
"He's going to hurt me" she shouted and started to cry hysterically as she threw herself towards me
"No ones going to hurt you love I promise, you just need to calm down" I said as I pushed her to sit back up slightly
"They will, the one before did and so he will"
"The doctor you saw here before was a bad man, he was made to leave because he was treating people wrong, not everyone is like him I promise" I tried
"How can you be so sure?" She whispered
"Because I know Liam here very well and I know all he wants to do is help you, but you just need to let him" I smiled and she nodded "so you think you can go with Liam for me and let him help you?" She nodded and he led her into his office after he thanked me.
I headed back down to my office where I was met by a very flustered Sophie trying to calm down a 5 year old boy who needed a blood test, no matter how hard his mother tried she was unsuccessful, he was screaming and freaking out and Sophie was unusually not handling the situation very well. "Soph, I got this babe, go take 5" I said to her
"Harry I am fine I can do this" she shouted
"Take 5, then I want to see you in my office when I'm done" she stormed off toward the break room without another word
"Hi mate I'm Harry, can you tell me your name?" I asked the boy sat in the waiting room
"Ashley" he said quietly
"Okay Ashley now I understand you don't want to be here but if you come with me we can get you out of here sooner, the sooner we get this sorted the sooner you can leave. Sound good?" I asked and he nodded "Come on then" I said and he followed me to my room and 10 minutes later I was done and they were on their way.
I sat in my office for 5 minutes and Sophie hadn't come in so I paged her, another 15 minutes had passed and she hadn't come so I headed to the break room to find her.
When I walked in Sophie was just sat on the sofa with her head on her knees which were pushed to her chest I walked over gently and sat next to her "what's wrong soph?" I asked gently and she didn't answer "soph I need you to talk to me"
"I just can't cope today haz, my head feels ready to explode"
"Why? Is it cause you don't feel well?" I asked
"Kind of, It's just that I kind of" she stammered "I got this text this morning" she said showing me her phone, the message was from her mother and read 'I was thinking because your so happy now you don't need us anymore so I'm moving over to New York with the girls, we are leaving in two days and you can come visit whenever'
"Oh soph, why didn't you just tell me babe?" I said pulling her into a hug. She laid her head on my chest and just sobbed.
"I didn't want to worry you and I was just so annoyed, I'm sorry" she said wiping her tears
"It'll be okay soph, we will get through this together, you have me now" I smiled wiping her cheeks
"Thanks haz"
"No problem sweetheart, now let's get you home, I've finished now anyway so we can leave now" I said and we headed out to my car.
